One night stand with my president(chapter 20)

Chapter 20:  Stay with me

Harrison didn't open his eyes or speak.

It seemed he was truly drunk and asleep.

Adeline felt a headache.

It would be too difficult for her to get Harrison back on her own.

Adeline got out of the car, went around to the back seat, opened the door, and gently tapped Harrison's shoulder.

“Mr. Thomson, wake up."

She didn't have much hope to begin with and was about to call for help at the villa when

Harrison suddenly grabbed her wrist.

He had a strong grip.

Adeline winced and looked up, meeting his just-opened eyes.

Probably due to being drunk, his eyes were misty, concealing his emotions.

"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline tentatively called out to him.

It seemed like Harrison only just realized it was her, so he Loosened his grip slightly but then pulled her into the car with force.

Adeline was caught off guard and fell directly onto him.

He let out a painful groan.

Adeline cursed him in her heart, but seeing the furrow in his brow, she asked, "Mr. Thomson, are you alright?"

She asked while trying to get up from him.

Harrison, however, extended his arm, wrapping it around her waist to prevent her from leaving.

"Mr. Thomson?" Adeline felt her scalp tingling.

Harrison was out of character today.

She didn't know how to handle it.

Harrison tightly restrained her. As if they were a couple in love, embracing each other tightly.

For a moment, Adeline also wanted, to indulge herself with the false illusion.

"Adeline..." Harrison called out.

He was just calling her name, but Adeline felt like something was lightly scratching at her heart, making it itchy.

Harrison rarely called her by her name.

He always addressed her as "Ms. Hensley" with a cold tone.

She couldn't remember the last time he called her by her name.

"Mr. Thomson, you're drunk,” Adeline tried to regain her composure. "I'll call someone to help you back. Please let me go first."

"I won't let go." His voice carried a hint of

drunkenness, sounding like a child who had just grabbed a candy and stubbornly refused to let go.

Adeline was amused by his behavior.

Having been by Harrison's side for five years, this was the first time she had seen him like this.

"Do you want to spend the night in the car?" she asked irritably.

"That's fine," he said, "But you'll be here with me."

Adeline was speechless, She thought Harrison was out of his mind. And she wanted to hit him.

Adeline just wanted to struggle out of his embrace. God knows how uncomfortable she was both physically and mentally in this position.

But just then, Harrison suddenly spoke again.

"Adeline, why are you treating me like this?"

Adeline's body stiffened.

He looked at her, and the mist in his eyes gradually dispersed, revealing an indescribable sadness.

But Adeline didn't understand what he meant.

Did he still think she betrayed him and leaked company secrets to the competitor?

Did he still not trust her?

"You could have told me," his voice was hoarse, tinged with sorrow. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Mr. Thomson, you...”

Adeline wanted to ask him what he was talking about.

But Harrison closed his eyes again,

Looking like he had gone  asleep from being drunk.

Adeline felt like there was a lump in her throat.

She smiled dryly and couldn't help but look longingly at his sleeping face.

It was only at this moment that she dared to look at him with such eyes.

If Harrison found out that she had secretly harbored feelings for him all along, he would probably dismiss her.

After all, he valued her not only for her strong ability at work but also for her maturity and discretion.

If she lost her maturity and discretion...

A bitter smile crept onto Adeline's lips.

When Harrison woke up, it was already bright.

His head was aching.

As he rubbed his head and sat up in bed, he realized he was lying in his bedroom.

Harrison didn't know when he came back.

He furrowed his brow slightly.

He remembered asking Adeline to wait for him in the car last night. And then he started drinking

What happened after that?

This feeling of not being in control of the situation made him very unhappy.

That was why he never let himself get drunk, let alone blackout.

But last night, he was wasted.

Harrison got out of bed irritably and went to take a shower.

As he stepped out of the bathroom with a towel around his lower body, he received a call from Sam.

Just as he answered, Sam's yawn came through on the other end.

"You called me just to listen to you yawn?" Harrison said, annoyed.

Hearing Harrison's displeased tone, Sam chuckled, "What's wrong with you? Getting so worked up this early in the morning. Didn't you spend a good night last night?”

Harrison snorted, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb in front of me, Sam laughed slyly. "Last night, it was Ms. Hensley who took you home Didn't you two take advantage of the situation?"

“Adeline? “ Harrison paused for a moment.

Then, a scene suddenly flashed in his mind.

Last night, Adeline was lying on top of him, and he was holding her waist tightly, refusing to let her go. Harrison pursed his lips.

"Harrison, why aren't you saying anything?" Sam asked again, chattering away. "Is Ms. Hensley lying beside you right now?"

"I'll shut your mouth sooner or later."

"Alright. I won't say anymore." Sam surrendered. "But if you like Ms. Hensley, treat her well. Don't always be so grumpy towards her."

"When did I ever say I like her?" Harrison frowned.

"You didn't say it, but after knowing each other for so many years, I understand you. I’ve figured it out long ago," Sam said smugly.

Harrison denied without hesitation, "You're mistaken."

After saying that, he hung up the phone.

He liked Adeline?

What a joke.

He just thought that Adeline had been diligent and dedicated for the past five years, so she deserved to be treated differently.

Harrison dried his hair and changed into casual clothes before heading downstairs.

The butler, Alex Houghton, immediately approached him, asking, “Mr. Thomson, what would you like for lunch? I'll have the kitchen prepare it."

"Anything is fine," Harrison replied.

"Alright," said Alex.

Alex was about to leave When he suddenly heard Harrison ask, "Who brought me back last night?"

"It was Ms. Hensley, sir," Alex, answered.

Harrison didn't say anything. Alex observed his expression and continued, "You were drunk last night, and Ms. Hensley couldn't bring you to the house by herself, so she came in to find me. I had someone help bring you in."

"Oh."

Alex heard Harrison's response and thought that was the end of it, but unexpectedly, Harrison asked again, "And then what happened?"

Alex didn't quite understand.

Then, of course, he went to sleep.

What else could happen?

At this moment, Alex suddenly realized.

Harrison must be asking about Adeline.

"Then Ms. Hensley went home. It was late, and I asked her if she needed someone to send her back, but she insisted she didn't, so l didn't insist” Alex said.

"She left after bringing me in?"

“Yes."

Harrison didn't say anything more, turned around, and went upstairs, Leaving Alex standing there in puzzlement.

He felt like Harrison was a bit angry.

In the barbecue restaurant, Joyce stared at the sizzling beef on the grill, drooling.

"It smells so good. Adeline, how about it? This barbecue place is pretty good, right? I got a two-person meal deal online for less than 20 dollars. Look, there's so much meat!"

Adeline smiled and said, "You're good at finding discount deals."

"Of course, the meat's ready. Let's start eating."

Joyce was already starving, and she started feasting.

Adeline looked at the delicious meat but didn't have much appetite.

She hadn't slept last night. Every time she closed her eyes, Harrison's words would echo in her mind. “Why are you treating me like this?"

"You could have told me. Why didn't you tell me?"

Adeline couldn't be sure what he meant.

Yesterday in the private room, she thought Harrison had found out that she was the woman who had slept with him that day.

But his reaction didn't seem to fit.

If Harrison knew, he would have probably confronted her face-to-face, instead of accusing her injuredly after getting drunk.

It was improper to use "injuredly" to describe Harrison.

But whenever Adeline thought of Harrison in the car last night, she did feel he looked injured.

"Adeline, what's wrong?" Joyce asked with concern, "Why aren't you eating? Are you feeling unwell?"

Adeline snapped out of her thoughts and said, "No. I'm just thinking about some things."

“Oh, what's bothering you so much? Tell me, and I will help you analyze," Joyce said.

"Wait, it's not your dad owing gambling debts again, is it?"

"No." Adeline quickly said, "It's Mr. Thomson."

"Mr. Thomson?" Joyce looked puzzled, "Mr. Thomson owes gambling debts?"

Adeline was amused by her words, and she couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh, don't laugh. What's wrong with Mr. Thomson? Is he troubling you?"

There were too many people in the restaurant. Adeline was cautious and said, "Let's talk about it when you come to my place later."

"Okay."

They quickly finished their barbecue and were about to leave when a young man and a woman walked in. The man was wearing

flashy clothes, and the woman was elegantly dressed, with a demure demeanor.

Adeline happened to meet the woman’s

eyes, and the latter immediately said,

"Adeline, what are you doing here?"

Adeline didn't say anything, but Joyce, with an unfriendly tone, said, "We're here to eat. What? Can't we come here?"

"Are you out of your mind? Why being so harsh?" The woman rolled her eyes.

"I don't need to have a good attitude towards someone like you." Joyce rolled her eyes as well.

This woman was Adeline's step-sister, Millie Hensley.

After Janiyah married Mateo, Millie took his surname.

Joyce knew that Janiyah and Millie had always been secretly making things difficult for Adeline, so she never had a good attitude towards them.

"Joyce, let's go," Adeline said.

She didn't want to talk to Millie, and she didn't want Joyce to get angry over someone who wasn't worth it.

"I just finished eating, and I don't want to vomit it out."

"You..”
