Chapter 19: He's Drunk
"I wonder if the beauty you're fighting for is Ms. Allen or Ms. Hensley," Sam said.
"Just stop it." Harrison frowned.
"Oh, feeling guilty, aren't you?" Sam chuckled, "Just about to enjoy some romantic moments, then someone interrupts. Must be infuriating for you."
Harrison found Sam annoying, and his mood was quite terrible.
But he couldn't quite pinpoint why he felt so bad.
However, he was certain it wasn't because of Lauren.
Could it be as Sam said?
Harrison glanced towards the door.
He knew Adeline was outside making a phone call.
His mood worsened even more.
As Lauren returned to the private room with a bag after changing clothes, Adeline finished her call.
"Ms. Hensley, I appreciate what you did just now," Lauren said sincerely.
Perhaps everyone thought that a woman like Lauren appearing disheveled in front of everyone was no big deal.
Only Adeline had covered her up.
Lauren couldn't quite describe her feelings, but from that moment on, it was hard for her to harbor any hostility towards Adeline.
"It's nothing," Adeline smiled. "Just a small favor."
"I'll wash your coat and return it to you later. It might be cold outside tonight, so I brought a new coat for you, one I haven't worn before."
With that, Lauren handed the bag to Adeline.
Indeed, it was quite chilly outside now.
So Adeline didn't refuse and accepted it with a thank you.
As they walked into the private room, the people inside all turned to look at them.
Both of them were associated with Harrison, but now, it seemed like their relationship was quite good.
Lauren walked up to Harrison, poured him a drink, and then poured one for herself, saying with red eyes, "Mr. Thomson, I appreciate your help just now."
Gunnar was also rich. Even if others weren't afraid of him, they wouldn't dare to offend him for a female attendant.
If Harrison didn't speak up, she might have been taken away by Gunnar tonight.
Although she was good at socializing, in that situation, Lauren couldn't save herself.
"Thank you, Mr. Thomson."
After saying that, Lauren downed the drink in one gulp.
After finishing, she looked at Harrison with a pitiful expression.
Harrison didn't say anything, but he did drink the glass of wine Lauren had poured for him.
Lauren smiled happily and had the guts to sit next to Harrison.
She was quite nervous.
Fortunately, Harrison didn't ask her to leave.
Blushing slightly, she poured another drink for Harrison.
Sam glanced meaningfully at Harrison and then said to Adeline, "Ms. Hensley, do you play pool? How about a game?"
Adeline smiled faintly and said, "No, Mr. Juarez, I should go."
Since Harrison already had Lauren by his side, Adeline could leave.
After all, their relationship was apparent, and Adeline's presence would only add to their discomfort.
She also needed to go back and sort out what had happened today.
Moreover, she had to think about what to do if Harrison decided to fire her because of what happened that night.
"Leaving so soon?" Sam looked a bit regretful.
He stole a glance at Harrison.
Harrison didn't object.
Adeline breathed a sigh of relief, turned around, and left.
Before leaving the private room, she saw Lauren smiling at Harrison.
Adeline's heart tinged with a slight pang, but she soon opened the door and left.
Stepping out of the club, a gust of cold wind blew over.
Adeline shivered and quickly took out a coat from the bag to put on.
Only after putting it on did she realize it was the flagship model from a new clothing line launched by the Thomson Group a while ago.
Adeline thought, "So, could this coat be the one Harrison gave to Lauren?" Adeline smiled bitterly.
What was the point of thinking about these things?
She was about to head to the subway station when she suddenly heard her phone ring.
Taking out her phone, she saw a message from Harrison
.
"Let the driver go back first. You wait for me here."
Adeline hesitated.
She wanted to turn back and give Harrison a good beating.
But she didn't dare.
So she could only reply to his message. "Alright, Mr. Thomson."
After the driver left, Adeline sat in the driver's seat.
It was warm in the car and combined with the gentle rhythm of the music, it created a different mood.
However, Adeline didn't feel like enjoying it.
There was a driver, so why did Harrison want her to wait for him?
Moreover, Lauren was with him tonight, and Adeline didn't know if he would come out.
Thinking about this, a sour feeling welled up in Adeline's heart.
After about two hours, when Adeline was almost falling asleep, she saw Sam supporting Harrison out of the club.
Harrison's steps were unsteady, looking like he was drunk.
Under normal circumstances, Adeline would have already gotten out of the car to help Harrison.
But at this moment, she felt a bit annoyed, and coupled with the fact that Harrison might not remember anything because he was drunk, she didn't get out of the car.
Sam opened the back door and helped Harrison sit inside.
A wave of alcohol fumes hit her.
Adeline was surprised.
Harrison had a strong control over his drinking.
He had a clear understanding of his alcohol tolerance.
Even at business dinners, he wouldn't allow himself to drink too much.
It was quite rare for him to be like this today.
Adeline greeted Sam from the front seat.
"Thank you, Mr. Juarez."
"Ms. Hensley, I'm entrusting him to you," Sam said helplessly. "He drank so much tonight. I don't know what got into him,"
"It's indeed rare," Adeline said.
"Alas, he's probably in a bad mood You should comfort him after you take him home," Sam said.
Adeline hesitated.
Wasn't it supposed to be Lauren's job?
Harrison was currently not pleased with her.
If she were to comfort him, he might feel even worse.
But Adeline couldn't ignore Sam's words.
So she could only smile and nod, then bid farewell to Sam.
After Sam closed the car door, Adeline started the car.
She saw Harrison leaning back in his seat with his eyes closed through the rearview mirror.
He looked very uncomfortable.
"Mr. Thomson, should I turn off the heater and crack open a window for a bit?" Adeline asked.
She waited for three whole minutes, but Harrison didn't say anything.
Adeline didn't ask again.
After all, this wasn't her car.
If he threw up in the car, she wouldn't feel sorry for it.
Harrison spent most of his time at the Eastwell Villa.
Adeline had taken him back there before, so she knew the way.
After she parked the car in the garage, Adeline unbuckled her seatbelt and saw Harrison still had his eyes closed in the back seat. Tentatively, she called out, "Mr. Thomson?"
