LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX(EPISODE 94)

EPISODE 94

It won't be long now; Mandy's tummy was growing really fast.

"This is going to be one big baby!" The doctor teased Mandy. "Look how big he is growing already. I guess you're probably feeding him too much."

Mandy took her seat with a worrisome look on her face. "It scares me too doc!" Mandy exclaimed. "Should I cut my feeding or should I just stop eating at all?" She asked with all seriousness.

The doctor looked at her trying to confirm if she was serious or probably just joking around. "You're joking right!"

The doctor exclaimed when she saw a trace of seriousness. "You could do that..." She said as she bent her head looking at a file. "If you want to do that " She concluded as she rested her gaze and her hand on one page, almost Mike she already found what she was looking for. "So the last time you came around you complained of feeling heavy in your heart."

"Yes; doc!" Mandy replied realizing it was time to get straight to business. "I said so."

"So how about now? Do you still feel the same way?"

"No doc. The drug you recommended me to get from the hospital's pharmacy was very helpful. I don't feel heavy anymore. I guess it was really just indigestion." Mandy said.

"That's good to hear. You are already very close to the end of your third trimester, I'm sure you are aware of that." The doctor said.

"Yes, doc."

"When you are done here, before leaving the hospital's premises, make sure you stop by at the clinic, you just have to give them a slip which I am going to give to you, they would tell you what next to do."

Mandy's eyes glanced around the office. Until it rested on a picture. She couldn't bring herself to ask a question about it, from the way it was positioned, it was obvious it didn't want any question to be asked about it.

"So does the baby still kick hard?" The doctor asked again.

"Yes, she still does. Even harder this time!" Mandy exclaimed. "Ouch!" She shouted. "She just did it again."

The doctor chuckled. "It's nothing, miss Mandy." She said as she tore out a paper. " It's just a normal kick. I guess it's because of the baby's size.so his kick is a little hard. It's not anything serious." The doctor said as she hands the paper over to Mandy. "Take it to the clinic and hand it over to them."

"Okay, doc. Thanks!" Mandy said as she takes it into her hands.

*******************

"So what is my fate?" Jake asked Joey who was sitting opposite him.

"To stuffer! That's your fate, your fate is to suffer. Why? Don't you think you deserve it?" Joey asked.

"Hmmm..." Jake scoffed. "Maybe....maybe I actually do deserve it." He said again without even trying to defend himself.

"Why though?" Joey asked. "Why did you choose to live your life this way? What exactly did you think the end would be like? When you did the things you did, what exactly was going through your head?" Joey asked again with sadness in his voice.

"What should I say? In a situation like this, what am I to say?" Jake asked with his head bowed low.

"How am I to know?" Jake replied with his head bowed low too.

The atmosphere was quiet, awkwardly quiet.

"I have to go, " Joey said breaking off

the silence.

"Oh...okay!" Jake said in a voice that silently called Joey to stay back. "Bye!" He said.

**************

Joey walked in with a sad look. He was deep in thoughts, so deep he didn't even notice Mandy's presence. Mandy wasn't sure what to do at that point if she was to say hi or just let him be.

She chose the latter. She didn't say anything to him and just watched him go into his room.

"Seems like he is coming from that place," Mandy said to herself. Even though Joey still denies it, Mandy knows deep down that, Joey's. heart breaks each time he visits Jake, because somewhere in there, the love

for Jake, still burnt within Joey.

"When did you come back?" A voice from behind said, interrupting Mandy's thoughts.

Mandy was startled and the baby too.

"Ouch!" She said softly as the baby kicked again rubbing over her tummy. She didn't want to scream so loud, now wasn't the best time to worry Joey with her own troubles. "A while back." She replied to his question.

"Are you okay?" Joey asked noticing the painful expression on her face.

"Yh! I am." She answered.

"You sure?" He asked again.

"Totally!" Mandy answered with a smile on her face this time.

"Okay if you say so. I would be inside, just In case you may need me for anything." He said as he tapped his finger on the wall and then he walked back inside.

"It's really obvious no doubt!" Mandy exclaimed with a fake smile. She could see it more clearly now, how deep Joey's love for Jake went, she could see it more now watching him and looking closely into his eyes. "Feels like it's all my fault!" She said within herself with a sad look on her face as she closed up the book she was reading.

It's been a week since Mandy's last visit to the hospital. The baby wasn't kicking as hard as before.

"Good afternoon!" Joey greeted Mandy as she walked into the living room.

"Afternoon!" Mandy exclaimed as she wiped her eyes to see the time on the wall clock clearly. "Oh my...!"

"Save it!" Joey said cutting her short.

"Save your breath and just sit down." He said again.

Mandy's eyes noticed the different Items scattered on the glass table.

"What are all of these?" She asked Joey.

"Oh, these? You mean these things. right here?" He said in a sarcastic tone.

He wasn't sounding very good. "I must say, Mandy, I'm not in any way or by any means happy with what you did."

"Me! What did I do?" She asked.

"What did you do? Seriously! You're really asking me that."

"Yes, I am!"

"C'mon Mandy! You are almost at your due date but we haven't gotten anything for the baby. Why didn't you tell me about the list the doctor gave you for the hospital. And, you haven't been to the hospital for a week now!"

"Well that's...that's...that's..." Mandy kept stuttering.

"That's what?" Joey asked. "Because of, me right!" He said.

"Oh no no no!" Mandy immediately said.

"Then what? Why have you been taking the baby's health and yours for granted? Do you really want to see me lose it!" He exclaimed.

"Things are already hard for me as they are, why do you choose to add to it and make things even worse. Why?" Joey said and then he walked away dropping the list on the table.

Mandy turned to call him back but she couldn't bring herself to say anything.

Her mouth only opened but not a single word came out from it. She covered her ears with her hands following the loud noise Joey's banging of his door caused. It was evident that he was mad.

"What do I do now?" She asked herself as she stared at the clinical materials laying on the table. "He really got everything on the list." She said as she scoffed out a smile. "What's happening to us?" Mandy asked herself.

Now the life they live is one where they are always sad about something, and if they ever get to smile, it's just a fake smile used to cover up the pain being felt so the other person won't worry too much.

"I want to turn back the hands to time."

She said as she covered her face with the paper in her hand.

******************

"What do you want?" Jake asked the figure who was on the other side of the room. "How dare you even!" He exclaimed as he banged the glass loudly in his furious state. "You have guts huh, after everything you have the nerves to step your feet here!" Joey exclaimed again.

"Oh please, I don't want to be here either. The last face I ever want to see is yours, so don't make it sound like I'm happy to be here." Tess said with a stern look.

"Good!" Jake exclaimed. "You don't want to be here, I don't want you here, everyone would be happy as long as we don't see each other. The door is right behind you, use it, because I would be using the one behind me." Jake said as he stood up and walked towards the door.

He stopped abruptly and then he turned to Tess and said. "Don't let your guard down just yet, the battle isn't over. I can still see the smoke coming out from the fire and you know, smoke can always be flamed back to start a fire. " He said and then turned to the door. His right hand was on the doorknob when Tess dropped a statement.

"She's dead!"

Happy new year🌲🌲
