LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX (episode 85)

EPISODE 85

Because the day flew by so quickly, it was anything but a slow day today.

"Didn't you notice how quickly time passed today?" Mandy inquired as to whether Peekaboo was still in the same position in which she had left him.

“Hey! Peekaboo!" After noticing that he was only physically present, Mandy called out to him, noting that his mind was somewhere else. "Peekaboo!" She called him again, this time shaking him to reacquaint him with his physical surroundings.

"Oh, Mandy!" Peekaboo said something softly. He had only recently become aware of her presence. "Can you tell me what you want?" Still not appearing to be in the mood for lengthy discussions, he inquired. "Do you need anything?" He inquired of her once more.

"Peekaboo!" Mandy called out in hushed tones. She could tell right away that something was wrong. This wasn't your typical Peekaboo game. “

“Does something bother you?" Mandy was the one who inquired. She was asking a question with an obvious answer, an answer that was obvious to her as well as anyone else. "Hey, I know you're concerned about Boss, but you have to remember that you can only worry about someone when you're feeling good yourself! In addition, how do you believe your boss would react if something happened to you, such as your health? Do you believe you would be able to complete the missions he has assigned to you if he were to kill you? Remember what he said to us: that every member of the legion is important to the mission. Only you have the ability to make a difference! So, if you truly believe that you are concerned about your boss, you would prioritize your own well-being first." Mandy shared her thoughts. Her tone of voice had an unexplainable quality to it. Despite the fact that she was yelling, you could tell she was worried.

She appeared to be yelling at Peekaboo, but it appeared that she was yelling at herself as well. She was directing her concern towards

Peekaboo, but it appeared that she was aiso concerned about Joey.

A jumble of conflicted emotions.

Peekaboo just kept his cool; he knew Mandy was saying the right thing, but it was impossible not to be concerned.

His first encounter with Joey flashed before his eyes like a flashback. When the teardrop was about to fall out of his eye, he quickly wiped it away with the corner of his nose.

“Mandy, I understand what you're saying. I would follow your recommendations..." He said this as he turned to face Mandy. what are you?”

His eyes were bloodshot and bloodshot red. He had not shed any physical tears, but he had been sobbing emotionally all the time. This time, Peekaboo's face was already turned away from Mandy as he said, " ...l would be leaving tomorrow," He sipped from

the can of coke he held in his hand before putting her back down on the dining table.

"Oh, okay, then I guess I'll have to start packing up," Mandy said, getting up from the couch.

"No, not at all!" Peekaboo yelled as she was being held back. "It's just me!" He explained that he was letting go of her hand because she had already stopped.

"I'm not sure what you're talking about.

What exactly do you mean?" Mandy inquired, her face befuddled.

"It would only be me who would be traveling!" Peekaboo shared his thoughts.

"I understand that, I heard you the first time, but I was curious as to what you were getting at..."

Peekaboo was perplexed at this point; after all, how else could he explain his statement?

"I would be returning to Santorini to take care of a few personal matters, so please be patient. After that, l'd come back to get you again." He expressed his hope that he had explained things in a way that Mandy would understand.

"We were supposed to work as a group," Mandy explained. “So, what's the deal with the private assignment?"

"I really don't know. It had been ordered by the boss." Peekaboo shared his thoughts.

"Okay, that's not a problem. So, when are you planning on returning?" She asked him again, this time giving him a look that was in direct opposition to her previous statement.

"It will be no more than a week..." He said this to her as he stood up to go into the house to rest. "I’m completely exhausted. I really need to get some sleep. A very long day is in store for me in the morning on Monday." His hand lightly tapped Mandy's shoulder and then he walked away, leaving her alone.

Mandy stood there and watched as Peekaboo entered the room with her.

She was completely blank, unsure of what she was even supposed to think about.

"There's something going on that I'm not aware of." As soon as Mandy said that, she jumped up on the couch and screamed.

Peekaboo had been drinking from a coke can, and she was staring at it with her eyes. She picked it up and shook it to see if it still

contained any of the original contents.

She sat back in her chair and gulped down the rest of the soda, which had been left over. "I'm going to have to find out what it is!" She said it to herself, but not in a loud enough voice. After that, she squeezed the empty can as if it were the one who was keeping things away from herself.

After she has vented her frustrations on the empty soda can, her mind creates a replay of the recording of Joey's voice in her head. She was concerned about his well-being.

***********

On the bed, Joey was lying face down with his left hand resting on his brow.

The pain from the syringe, which had passed through his skin minutes before and was still in it, was still fresh in his memory.

"Can you tell me how you're feeling right now, Mr. Brandon?" The man in a white robe approached him and asked him a question.

Joey didn't say anything. Because all he could see was the large syringe that Dr. Ferguson was holding, the only thing he could do was sigh and shake his head. Because he knew what was going to happen next, he turned his head away from doctor Ferguson as he pushed some liquid drops out of his mouth into a cup.

"Mr. Brandon, please! Come on, it's only a tiny needle. You can handle it." He said this while laughing.

Joey looked him in the eyes as he turned his face toward him and gave him a firm look.

"It's all right, it's a little big.” Joey looked at him with an even more stern expression.

"All right, all right! It's a big deal, I

understand, but it's only going to hurt a little bit." he said.

Joey averted his gaze once more when doctor Ferguson took his hand in his and rubbed a ball of cotton wool that had been soaked in methylated spirit over the spot where he would insert the syringe into his arm. "One, two, three, and you're done!" He said this as he drained the entire contents of the container into Joey's body, after which he removed it.

"See, I told you it wouldn't hurt that bad!" He said this as he disposed of the item in the trash.

Joey had a bullet lodged in his shoulder. This incident occurred just a few days ago. He didn't tell anyone about it the day it happened because he was embarrassed. He only administered a first aid treatment to himself because he was already familiar with treating wounds of this nature. While Mr. Ferdinand had pleaded with Joey to call the doctor instead of going to the hospital, Joey had refused and walked away. Being

unprepared to watch Joey die in front of him, Mr. Ferdinand had gone behind his" back and summoned the family doctor at the expense of his stay at the Brandon's. As he watched Joey slowly deteriorate with each passing hour, Mr. Ferdinand had called in the family doctor at the expense of his stay at the Brandon's.

"It'll take some time for this to heal completely." As he tended to Joey's

injured area, Dr. Ferguson said something to him. "You have to put it on and take it off every six hours! It's going to be stressful for me, but I'm going to go ahead and do it. For George's sake, at the very least." Dr. Ferguson said this while giving Joey a friendly smile.

Dr. Ferguson had been in the medical field for a number of years. Brandon's - family doctor for thirty-eight years, he was in his late sixties and had been in practice for the Brandon family.

"Why don't you just stay here until it's completely healed, doctor?" Joey inquired, his gaze remaining fixed on the ground.

"It's something I'd think about!" Dr. Ferguson said this as he pulled the syringe out of Joey's body, which had been there for quite some time. "We've completed our work for today!" Dr. Ferguson made the statement.

He walked over to his bag and began to stuff it with all of his belongings and equipment.

"So, we're in the same room, aren't we?" He inquired of Joey, who had been staring at him after he pulled the syringe from his pocket.

Joey smiled and then said something.

"Yep, it's the same room!"

"You're a big baby!" Doctor Ferguson teased him as he smiled back at him before walking out of the room and into the hallway.

Joey got a nostalgic feeling from having the doctor in the house. The doctor used to ruffle his hair and tease Mr. George, Joey's father, about how Joey looked nothing like him, saying Joey was way more attractive than his father, and then he would tease him about how Joey would not follow in his footsteps as a businessman, but would instead become a medical doctor like

himself. He could still remember this.

Joey snorted and then sniffed the air around him. Memories like that were guaranteed to cause hot liquids to stream down your face.

Joey's demeanor immediately shifted from one of rage to one of rage. It was almost an oxymoron. He clenched his fist tightly and vowed within himself to have the person who had shot him, as well as everyone else involved, imprisoned. As soon as he thought of Mandy, his mood changed once more.

If things were this dangerous for him, he could only imagine how dangerous it would be for Mandy if Peekaboo left for Santorini at the same time.

Other than praying and hoping for the best, there was nothing else he could do. Maintain a positive attitude.

*************

"Bye!" Mandy greeted Peekaboo as he boarded the taxi to the airport. Mandy received a text message on her phone just as she was turning to go inside.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine!" She smiled as she turned around, her gaze fixed on the road as if the taxi was still waiting.

"Peekaboo!" Mandy exclaimed as she walked into the room with a smile on her face.

Mandy made the mistake of assuming the message came from Peekaboo, which was a mistake.
