LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX (EPISODE 70)

                             EPISODE 70

Getting a deal signed is just as hard as drafting out a business plan. Tiffany was stuck with selecting the perfect outfit for the occasion.

"This is so frustrating!" She exclaimed as she threw on the bed yet again the fifth pair of clothes she had put together on a failed attempt to pick out the best.

"I am not going to give up!" Tiffany exclaimed to herself again as he stood up from the bed and continued once again with her search for the perfect outfit.

The zeal Tiffany had in picking out an outfit is the kind everyone should have before embarking on any project: the strong will to achieve your goals no matter how frustrating the pathway becomes.

"Now that's what l'm talking about!" Tiffany excitedly said to herself as she stared at the impeccable combination she had come up with in the mirror which was lapping on her body.

It's been almost three hours since the time for the meeting passed, making it a total of four hours since Tiffany had been sitting on this seat.

"Would you love to place your order now ma'am?" The waiter had said to Tiffany.

"' will do so in an hour's time." Tiffany replied. "Could you get me orange juice in the meantime." Tiffany said again

noticing the look on his face.

Even she  herself  would be frustrated with such a customer.

It was going to be the third time this waiter was coming to Tiffany. Ever since she came the only thing she had was a glass of distilled water which was complimentary on the house. If you are going to be here, then you have to place an order.

The loud noise Tiffany made from the tapping of her feet drew some attention to her but she couldn't care less, all she wanted to know was what exactly could be holding the investors back.

She kept on making excuses for them, more like she was doing it for herself. It was her own way of giving herself hope.

Her pinky fingers screamed to be spared as it was the next to go into the dungeon called Tiffany's mouth. All the other four fingers that went in didn't come out until they had little or nothing left.

Tiffany could no longer just sit and wait. She had wanted to make them believe she had trust in them that they were going to come around regardless and so she had been holding herself back from making any calls, but she couldn't anymore.

"Good evening sir!" Tiffany greeted as the other person at the other end picked up. "I guess you must be very busy Sir, seeing how you are still not here even after three hours to the proposed time of the meeting already passed Sir." Tiffany was being rude and polite all at once.

"They didn't call you?" The man inquired.

"They?" Tiffany said more like a question because she was not quite sure of what he meant by that.

"Yes they! My secretary and my lawyer."

"Oh okay Sir! No, they didn't call me." Tiffany said still holding back her fear.

"But sir, is everything okay, why were they supposed to call me?" She was still trying her best to be calm.

"They were supposed to inform you that the contract signing won't be going through anymore."

"Sir! Excuse me! What do you mean?" Tiffany exclaimed and asked all at once.

"I mean exactly what your head says to you that I mean. What do you take me for? A dimwit?" The man commented.

"Did you really think I wouldn't find out about the fact that you lost your major investor. The very day you called to request from me about pushing up the date for the signage, I knew something wasn't right then, I had my doubts but still I wanted to trust you so I didn't even put up and investigation. Not until a representative from J-BRAND approached me three days ago and told me everything about it, and what's even more interesting is that, they presented a more promising, and better plan than you did. The plus is, it's not illegal. So I don't have to worry about how money is going to be spent, I can go to bed every night without being afraid of waking up to the possibility that my investment had gone down the gutter because you've been caught, worse off, might caught too. Goodbye." He said hanging up not even giving Tiffany an opportunity to explain herself, or even digest the news properly.

Tiffany flared up in rage. She could smell Joey all over this, the more she thought about it then deeper she gets sunk into fury.

"You can never defeat someone who doesn't care about shame. If this is how you want to play the game, bring it on." Tiffany said as she stood up from her seat and left without placing an order at the end.

The waiter tried running after her but he was too late, he walked back to her table to clear up the place when he saw the stack of cash Tiffany had left and wedged with a fork, to avoid a single note flying away.

"So what are we to do now?" Mrs Mallory asked Tess over the phone.

"I don't know mom, I really don't know. I've been thinking and thinking for the past twenty four hours but still I can't seem to come up with anything. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us and I can't believe we lost because I was two days slow." Tess cried out as she paced around her hotel room.

"Why didn't you call me yesterday?" Mrs Mallory questioned.

"Because I was thinking mom! I really wanted to handle this myself, l am not proud of the fact that I have to constantly run back to you whenever something goes south, for once l wanted to solve an issue by myself, on my own! Then again, look where it landed me, still on the phone, with you, weaning like a puppy." Tess said sounding a bit calm.

"It's fine lollipop! I get it, it's not your fault we lost the deal, we didn't know we had another predator aside Tiffany." Mrs Mallory said trying to get Tess into feeling good about herself, but it wasn't yielding the intended fruit.

"That's it mom! That's where my mistake lies. I wasn't eagle eyed, I wasn't paying attention closely, infact, I wasn't paying attention at all. I just assumed Tiffany was the only competition we had because she was visible, I didn't bother checking around for others and so someone else snuck up on me and outsmarted me." Tess said guilt tripping herself with every sentence.

" I should have been more observant! I should have payed closer attention!" Tiffany cried. "This is so nerve-wracking and ass pissing too!"

"Tell you what." Mrs Mallory said. "How about you take the earliest flight back home tomorrow, let's talk this out." Mrs Mallory added.

"No mom! I think I want to stick around here a while longer, I don't know why, but l just have this urge to do so." Tess said.

"Okay child, if you insist. Think of it like a vacation, rest your head a little while, and then return back home, okay!"

"Okay mom." Tess said. "But mom, if Tiffany didn't get the contract signed, then, who did?" Tess asked Mrs Mallory.

"Who knows? Just let it go and relax while you're there." Mrs Mallory said trying to get Tess's head away from where it was at.

"Child, don't do anything stupid, goodbye." Mrs Mallory said as she hung up the phone.

"Goodbye mom!" Tess said to nobody

actually, since Mrs Mallory already hung up.

"I'm sorry in advance!" She said.

Whatever it was, going through Tess's head, it was clear that it wasn't anything good, been a while since Tess be this way. The hot air headed Tess.

"You didn't call me to give me a report on how the contract went." Joey said to

Mandy.

"You didn't tell me I had to." Mandy said.

"You know, I live my life only doing the things you say."

"Okay now you do know that's a lie. I know you are still mad, I know you are upset, but still, you should call me to give me a report on how things went."

"Sorry Boss!" Mandy sarcastically apologized. "Do you have any other

mission for me?"

"Yes I do! But before I tell you about it, I would really appreciate it if you could just let go of any hard feelings and be happy you are there. There is a possibility you might come back even before the five months, everything is still uncertain and unclear, just bear with me."

Joey was silent for some minutes hoping Mandy gave what he just said a little thought.

"Your next mission is going to be nothing like this one, are you prepared?"
