LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX (EPISODE 69)

                        EPISODE 69

It was two in the afternoon but the clouds were already getting dark, making the whole place look like it was evening already.

"Getting your things ready I suppose, Joey said to Mandy standing by her door.

"Yh, it is just as you see," Mandy said with a smile on her face. Her excitement couldn't be concealed. "I am ecstatic about everything, and yes I am positive too," Her smile became even brighter.

"Did I tell you?" Joey asked her, still not asking anything in particular.

"Tell me what?" Mandy asked back trying to get the loyal servant of Jesus into talking.

Joey followed in Jesus's footsteps of speaking in parables, his statements were hardly ever clear at the first pronouncement. You have to ask him again to get a clearer version.

"You didn't tell me anything," Mandy said.

Joey walked halfway into the room, his

hands having a play day on his head.

"Erm...you see.," Joey began to stutter.

Judging from how he was finding it difficult to put his words together, it was obvious Mandy wasn't going to like what he was going to say.

"The thing is...once you go, you won't be coming back," Joey said, his eyes looking everywhere except at Mandy.

"What did you say?" Mandy asked as the cloth she had in her hand slipped away. "I didn't quite get that, could you say in a way that I could understand," She demanded.

"You won't be coming back to California once you leave for Santorini," Joey said still avoiding eye contact with Mandy.

"I heard you loud and clear the first time, what I didn't get was the meaning of what you just said," Mandy was getting furious, and her furiousness was mixed up with sadness.

"You won't be staying there forever, you would return at some point, maybe, after you put to birth,"

"You have got to be kidding me!" Mandy exclaimed as she paced across the room angrily. "That is like six months from today! You are practically disposing of me!" She screamed even more.

"No! No no no! Absolutely no!" Joey said moving closer to Mandy trying to get her to understand and see where he was coming from.

"I can't dispose of you, you are a very vital asset to this mission so how could I possibly do that," He was next to her now. "We need you there because Santorini is a very crucial location to our mission, we need you to be our eyes, ears, and mouth. I can't give you all the details now but trust me they are all for a good cause. Look at the plus, your child gets

 to have dual citizenship,"

The look on Mandy's face showed she wasn't excited by whatever he just said.

"I'm sorry!" He said as she withdrew a little distance away. "I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do about it. I can't afford to let personal feelings get in the way of a decade-long plan.

"Santorini right? That's fine, I would go!"

Mandy accepted rather too quickly.

"I think it's for the best," She said wearing a smile that screamed fake, and then she continued with her folding.

Joey was stuck, both by movement and speech. He wasn't sure if he was to go in and talk more with Mandy, if he was to stay back and say nothing at all or if he was to just leave.

Mandy scoffed. "Santorini! You've got to be kidding me!" She said to herself.

#########

"Good morning Boss!" Stacy greeted Jake as he arrived at the office.

"You are here early!" Jake said surprised to see her at the office.

He looked at his watch to confirm if he was the one who arrived too late or Stacy arrived too early.

"Wow! You really are early," He said after making his confirmation.

"Well thank you, sir!" Stacy replied feeling proud and good of herself. "I only learned from the best while walking in his shoes," She said still feeling overly excited.

"I want you to clear everything in my schedule from the beginning of the day up until one 5:40 in the afternoon," Jake said tapping his fingers in Stacy's table.

"Ouch!" Stacy exclaimed.

Stacy could tell something was off, she smelt something wasn't right, but she didn't know, what!"

Jake was supposed to still be moaning in pain after losing the deal with Y&C but he is here at the office doing quite the opposite.

"Something isn't right!" Stacy said to herself.

It was a downpour of stress today for Stacy as it rained all over her today like raindrops. It was from one call to another, she kept apologizing to the clients whose appointments she had to cancel.

"Could this day be over already? I didn't take this job to learn how to be polite" Stacy yelled out from a place of frustration.

The last client she called rained insults on her and it took a lot not to reply back.

Stacy wasn't the nicest person anyone would want to meet.

###############

"So I guess it's goodbye then!" Joey said to Mandy as they arrived at the airport.

"Obviously!" Mandy replied.

"Try and keep in touch, we would do the same from the end, be safe okay,"

"Sure!" Mandy replied again.

"Everything you need is in the file I gave to you the other day. I believe in you Mandy, I know you can pull this off," Joey said trying to appease Mandy who wasn't hiding the fact that she was still unhappy.

She took the statement: wear your emotions on sleeve: literally, because she was doing just that.

"Okay!" Mandy said again.

"C'mon Mandy! What's with the one-word reply?"

"But that is all I have to say, do you want me to make up stories?"

"Mandy! I thought we talked about this already. I am also dying to tell you about everything, but I can't. Do you think I intentionally want to keep this away from you?"

"Yes! Heavens yes! I think you do! C'mon Joey what could be so hard not to tell. Right now you are even breaking one of your own rules,"

"No, I'm not,"

"Whatever! Just give me the ticket," Mandy said as she placed her palm in front of Joey.

"Here you go," Joey held on to the ticket even though he already placed it in Mandy's palms, it wasn't the ticket he wanted to hold back though, it was the person on whose palm he placed the ticket. "Goodbye, Mandy!" Joey said as he finally let go of the tickets.

Mandy hurried the ticket into her coat's pocket and then she dragged her box along with her.

Mandy was trying really hard to hold herself back from turning and have one last  glimpse of Joey. Joey on the other hand was doing all he could to hold himself back from running towards Mandy.

It would have been nice if either one of them made a move, this could be the last time they both ever see.

"It's not going to be an easy feat, but I trust you to overcome it, Tess!" Mrs. Mallory said to her daughter who was a few minutes away from boarding the plane.

"Don't screw this up, child. Please come back with the trophy, we need this win, if we are ever going to win at the end," Mrs. Mallory said with pleading eyes as she held on to Tess's hands.

"I won't screw up mom! Trust me this time. I ain't going into the battlefield unprepared, I have my plans perfectly outlined,"

Mrs. Mallory kissed the forehead of her daughter and then she bid her farewell.

#############

"I really wanted to see you off at the airport," Jake cried as he helped Tiffany with her bag.

"But it's..,"

"Shhhh.." Tiffany said placing her finger across Jake's lips. "It's fine, I understand how important this meeting is to you and I also know how much you wanted to drop me off at the airport so you don't need to explain anymore. You go into that boardroom and sign that deal, while I go out there to grab the bag," Tiffany said with an understanding look.

"We will come out victorious in the end, I know, because I feel it," Jake said to Tiffany beating his chest very hard.

"Goodbye, honey!" This was the first time Tiffany ever called him that.

Goodbye Tiff" Jake said as he kissed her on her lips. "Be safe,"

"I will," Tiffany said as he went into the car.
