EPISODE 76
Mandy closed her eyes and made her final prayers in her heart. In the tiny area between her louvers that she could see the heavens, she pleaded for forgiveness for her misdeeds, and she was granted it. Mandy was raised as a Catholic. She squeezed her eyes shut as the man walked towards her, a knife in his hand, a sinister smirk on his face, and a series of frightening noises. She clenched her eyes tightly. Boom!
That was the next sound to be heard after the previous one. Mandy wondered if the man was armed as well because the only thing she could see him holding was a knife, which she thought was odd.
"Hold on a second! I can't believe I'm still thinking. Is it possible for a spirit to think for itself? Wow! "I guess death isn't such an awful thing after all." Mandy was thinking to herself at the time.
"Do you think you're okay? Mandy! Mandy!" She could hear someone yelling her name from behind her.
"Wow! Spirits are able to hear as well!" She repeated herself. "All right, let's see if we can open our eyes." I'm going to say it to myself.' Mandy's ability to make a joke out of her death was beyond comprehension.
When her eyes opened, she saw that the
figure in front of her was Peekaboo.
"Oh my goodness!" Mandy burst out laughing. She rushed over to Peekaboo and leaped on him, holding him hard. She didn't bother to ask any questions.
Once again, tears streamed down her cheeks as she ruined his Trojan navy blue polo shirt. "I'm still alive! Oh my goodness, | can't believe I'm still alive!
"I am, in fact, still alive!" She yelled, her heart beating like a happiness field.
She stared at him once she had removed her head from Peekaboo's shoulder, which she had been doing.
"Peekaboo, I'm still here!" She exclaimed once again and leaned her head back against this shoulder to catch her breath.
Peekaboo was at a loss for what to do. He pondered whether he should return Mandy's hug or just leave his hands where they were at the time. He feared she would be hurt if he didn't hug her back, or perhaps he was just making up excuses for not doing what he
actually wanted to do at the time.
Gradually, he wrapped his arms over Mandy's shoulders.
"Do you think you're hurt? "Does everyone seem to be okay?" When the police officers arrived on the scene, they inquired. They had received a phone call from Joey, and Peekaboo had contacted them while on his way here.
"Thankfully, the answer is yes. Everyone is in good health." Peekaboo shared his thoughts.
Mandy, who had become tired of being emotional, recognized what she was doing and promptly released herself from Peekaboo's grip on her.
"Please accept my apologies." She expressed regret. "I was just a little too
thrilled." "I really apologize for allowing my emotions to get the best of me." She expressed regret once more.
"It's all right!" Peekaboo expressed her displeasure in a way. He would prefer it if Mandy didn't express regret.
"Sir, this is the man!" According to one of the cops.
The squad's team leader ran to confirm the identity of the suspect, and it was later confirmed. Gerald was the man who attempted to assassinate Mandy; he was a psychopath and serial killer who had been on the police's wanted list for some months. It's incredible how he was finally apprehended.
Gerald was lying still on the floor, his life gone. Peekaboo had banged his head with a glass quite hard, rendering him unconscious. Despite being a novice, Peekaboo was an expert, knowing how to miss key places that could result in death while yet hitting those points that could render one asleep for several minutes.
"He's starting to wake up, sir!" Another officer let out a yell.
"You have the right to remain silent, sir, as well as the right to be represented by an attorney; everything you do or say will be used against you in a court of law," the officer says. As he handcuffed Gerald, the cop muttered something.
"Hold on a second! I did absolutely nothing! I, on the other hand, did nothing! Allow me to leave! Allow me to leave! "Miss, you are well aware that you do not wish to keep me waiting, aren't you?" The madman kept repeating himself.
"Get this man out of here!" says the leader.
The other officers were directed by the team leader.
"Thank you very much, police," says the speaker. Peekaboo expressed gratitude to the officers.
"Thank you very much, officers." Mandy shared her thoughts as well.
"Sir, Peekaboo is the name of the team's leader. In order for you to submit your statement, we would like you to accompany us to the station, along with the lady. I'm sorry," the officer told him.
"Okay! "I'd just go tell her about it!" I'd say.
"Can you tell me what's wrong?" Peekaboo approached Mandy and asked her a question.
"Okay, that's not a problem. 'Let's go!' she exclaimed, nodding her head in agreement with what Peekaboo had said.
As they went behind the officers, Peekaboo took a few more steps behind them, his thoughts racing through his mind at
breakneck speed
"This isn't good!" He stated this, and then he dashed to catch up with the others.
*******************
"How did you realize that you needed to call the cops?" As they sat down for a late-night snack, Mandy asked Peekaboo a question.
They had returned from the station exhausted and worn out, and so they decided to take some time to recover after cleaning up the place before sitting down to have a meaningful talk.
"Well, I didn't know anyone would be coming, so I just contacted them in case they showed up. An awful thing was about to happen, and I had a bad feeling about it, so I came around." Peekaboo said this while plainly lying.
"Wow! That's incredible! That's completely insane! I'm talking about your instinct, I'm talking about how it might be so accurate." Mandy was mesmerized by Peekaboo's instinct, she claimed.
"I don't know what to say," Peekaboo
responded positively, his self-confidence soaring.
"However, what do you think you would have done?" Mandy was the one who inquired.
"I'm referring to the police." She stated it again, this time seeing Peekaboo's perplexed expression.
"What would you have done with them if you had come and seen that I was OK and
nothing was wrong?" "What would you have done with them?" She inquired.
"Nothing," Peekaboo responded, seemingly unconcerned with what he was saying. "All I would have done was apologize for causing a false alarm," He said it with a lighthearted
demeanor.
As she sipped from the can of grape juice she murmured, "I don't think they would
have liked it at all."
While hurriedly spitting the liquid back into the can of juice, Mandy exclaimed, "aah this taste...so odd. ""Grape!" She burst out laughing. "I should have realized," she said.
"Can you tell me why you don't like grapes?" Peekaboo was the one who inquired.
"Oh, no!" Not all of them! "It doesn't sit well with me in any way." She responded in the affirmative.
"Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you tonight." Peekaboo expressed regret.
"Oh, don't worry, everything is alright. You saved my life, and to be honest, l don't think today is one of those nights when I would want to be alone." Mandy said this in an attempt to relieve Peekaboo of any negative feelings he could be experiencing.
"Thank you very much!" he exclaimed.
"No, thank you very much," Mandy responded.
It had been a long night of reciprocal expressions of thanks back and forth. It even went so far as to become a competition. A contest to see who can be the most thankful.
While Mandy and Peekaboo were having a disagreement over thankfulness, Joey was becoming restless on the other side of the globe.
He had returned to his phone to find a
number of missed calls from Mandy.
The last thing Joey would do when he went out, was to leave his phone behind, but on this particular day, he had done it on purpose since he knew something like this was going to happen. As long as he continued to ignore such calls before Jake, Jake would begin to suspect him, and the last thing he wanted Jake to think about was him or anyone associated with him.
"Should I call him?" He wondered. As he walked around his room, Joey pondered over this question. "I'm not sure what I'm going to say."
Peekaboo had contacted him to inform him of everything that had occurred, including the damage to Mandy's phone, and he had answered the phone. He also informed Joey that he would be spending the night at Mandy's, and the notion of him spending the night with Mandy was what had kept Joey awake up until this point in the night. He tried and tried to come up with something intelligent to say if he received the phone call, but he couldn't come up with anything decent.
"You're absolutely right!" Joey mumbled something that sounded almost like he recalled something else.
Additionally, Peekaboo had told him about how they were required to fill out a statement at the station, which automatically meant that information about them had been entered into the station's database of recorded information.
Joey didn't care that it was only a few minutes before noon; the sooner he could get everything sorted out, the better for him. He dialed Dudu's number right away.
"Yes, sir!" says the boss. When Dudu
responded, he had a tired tone in his voice.
"I need you to start working on something right away," Joey stated.
Dudu's face was rapidly cleared of the sleep. He was already aware that Whatever he was tasked with doing was extremely essential.
"Anything you want, boss!" Dudu spoke with a louder and clearer tone.
"I require you to hack into the security system of the government of Santorini and delete the information on Peekaboo and Mandy that they entered earlier today from the system, as well as any CCTV footage that may have captured them in that area," Joey explained.
"All OK, Boss!" Dudu was the one who responded.
"Do you believe it's plausible that this may happen?" He inquired.
"Yes, sir!" says the boss. Dudu responded in kind.
"All fine, then begin to work on it immediately."
"I'm already working on that, boss!" He responded in kind.
"Nice! "I admire your perseverance and zeal for your work." Joey gave his approval.
"Goodnight!"
***************
Joey had already showered and changed. He was ready to retire to his bed at this point. Joey used those words to distract himself from whatever Peekaboo and Mandy might be up to at the time. "It's only going to be for a few hours," he explained.
His phone vibrated just as he was going to conceal himself with his hands.
"Hello!" Jake exclaimed as he picked up the phone and answered it.
It was Jake who called out from the other side, "It's me."
"Jake! "Can you tell me how you got my phone number?"
As Jake tried unsuccessfully to avoid answering the question, he answered,
"It doesn't matter how I got it; what matters is that I have it." In the meanwhile, "what you should be interested in right now is why."
"l understand." He said something, but it wasn't loud enough for Jake to hear.
He yanked the phone away from his ears and then peered at the screen, where the word Jake was printed in large letters. The number to Jake's phone had been in his possession for a long time, and all he had to do now was wait for the appropriate time to call.
"Can you tell me what you want?" Jake was the one who was asked.
"Why don't you tell me?" inquire. Jake was the one who responded.
