"Yh, and that was how it happened." Mrs Mallory said like it was nothing.
Jake was dumbfounded. "Are you really my mother?" He asked her still in shock.
He turned towards Mandy with remorse in his eyes. Looking at her now, everything that had happened that night made more sense to him.
FLASHBACK: The Night Of Tiffany's Party
Tess walked into the room as swiftly as possible. There was a wine fountain Tiffany had requested her food and drink planner to make. She got the concept from the chocolate fountain kids usually have at their parties.
The wine being shared to everyone was taken from that fountain. It was an alcoholic wine, so even when people started acting drunk and strange, suspicions weren't made.
Tess had meticulously dropped the drug into the wine fountain without drawing attention to herself. The drug was in powder form and so it didn't take too long before it mixed up with the entire wine.
The plan was for Tess not to have a sip from it, and when everyone had gotten really drunk, she was to take Jake to bed and force him into having sex with her, so he would get her pregnant and be left with no choice but to get married to her.
Mrs Mallory hated everything about Tiffany, and was ready to go to any length at all to get her out of the picture.
Tess is a person who gets easily dehydrated. She searched around the whole place but she couldn't find even a drop of water, the only liquid available was alcohol. She had spotted a glass of wine at the end of the room which she gulped down in a haste. It was already settled in her stomach before she realized what she had done.
"Oh no!" She blurted out, holding her stomach.
END OF FLASHBACK
"I have something to say!" Tess said.
"What could that be?" Mrs Mallory asked with hate in her eyes.
Before the party, Mrs Mallory cared a lot about Tess, she was fit to be her daughter in-law, but ever since Tess did what she did that night, coupled with how she pressured her into talking to Jake about it, seeing the sight of Tess disgusts her now.
"This is for Jake and Mandy."
Jake looked at her now with curiosity, hearing his name from her mouth.
"That night of the party, do you remember the conversation you both had?"
Mandy was curious, but she still didn't want to say anything, within her, she asked her questions hoping Jake would hear them.
"What conversation?" Jake asked
Mandy wore a smile on her face, Jake had asked what she wanted.
"It's fine." Tess replied. "If you don't remember, then it's fine. However, I really hope you remember soon enough. I really hope that when you do, it won't be too late by then. My business here is done, I would be taking my leave now." Without wasting time, without any hesitation, Tess stood up and took her eave.
Jake looked at his mother, still shocked by the length she went just to get rid of Tiffany. He stood up, holding Mandy's hand, and then he left with her following behind him.
Mrs Mallory stood up with them, wondering what was going on between Jake and Mandy.
"Could he be actually serious? He would really pick Mandy over Tiffany?" Mrs Mallory said to herself with her hands on her waist. "Nah! (She said shaking her head) | still won't fall for his act, there is definitely an ulterior motive behind all of this!"
"Let go of me!" Mandy said freeing herself from Jake's grip. "What was that for? Why did you have to grab my hand with you? Did I tell you I wanted to come back upstairs! What if I wanted ta sit back there?" Mandy kept throwing the questions at Jake, who just stood
quietly saying nothing leaning on the door.
"Do you enjoy being hurt?" Jake asked still leaning on the door.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"You know if you had stayed back, definitely my mom would have picked on you. She would do anything just to frustrate you. You still think I would have left you there knowing all of this.”
"What do you want Jake? Tell me! What do you want?" Mandy cried out. "Why are you doing all of this? Why are you doing this to me?"
Jake walked two steps towards Mandy, he tried holding on to her face but Mandy shoved him away.
"You know I am not buying all of this, you can't fool me with your act. I won't lie to you, at some point last night, I almost gave in, you made my heart flutter."
"Mandy," Jake said walking closer to her.
"Don't try to fight this."
The more he took steps closer to her, the more Mandy walked back.
"Don't come any closer!" Realizing she was already at the bed side, Mandy yelled.
"Why? Why are you pushing me away?"
Jake asked as he stopped obeying Mandy's request.
