EPISODE 46
"Let's go, Fred!" Mandy said as she walked towards the car.
"I'm coming ma'am," Fred responded from a not-so-far distance running towards the car.
"It was nice meeting you by the way," Fred said in a rush as he turned Swiftly to Dave. Who had his head bowed.
To Dave, Fred was a boredom killer and to Fred, Dave was a gist partner. The duo saw each other in a different light.
"Seems like you made a new friend,"
Mandy commented as Fred jerked the car into action.
"Oh yeah, seemed like it, ma'am," Fred responded shyly.
"How nice," Mandy said with a smile.
"That was quick!" Joey commented sighting Mandy from upstairs as she walked into the living room.
"Oh!" Mandy said as she looked up and caught sight of him." It wasn't completely fast, I pulled some strings to get myself attended to this quick, and besides, I left pretty early," Mandy said clearing the air.
Joey giggled. "And, you think finding the right people who help you pull strings isn't tasking. You also played your part of leaving early."
"Well, you are not completely wrong," Mandy said as she walked up the stairs too with Joey climbing down. "That reminds me, please whatever you have to do should be done fast, but if it something you can't necessarily speed up you would have to postpone it. There are a lot of things to talk about and I need to ask you some questions."
He was still climbing down as he said this.
"Okay, l'll be with you very soon," Mandy said.
"Before we commence, we have to sign this contract," Joey said.
"I thought we've signed a contract before, what's with the new one?"
"Have we signed any contract in the past?" Joey asked looking confused.
No one said anything for some seconds as they were both trying to have a proper think if a contract was really signed.
"Well, I can't recall." Joey said. "Since I can't remember that, we would have to go with this new one, there is no time, and I mean this literally."
Mandy picked up her own copy of the contract which Joey had slid down her angle. "This is interesting, Mandy said."
"To be on a very clear side to avoid the talks of I didn't agree to this or I didn't see this or I never knew this was included in the contract, I would be vocally reading the contract to you so you won't be giving me any excuses next time. Is that okay with you?" Joey said and at the same time asked.
"Oh okay, you can. Before then though, does that mean I am no longer bounded by the previous contract I signed." Mandy said still standing on her ground that a contract was signed.
"Good. Number one." Joey began. "This is the most important rule needed to be kept because this has the power to build our plan into becoming even stronger and to raid it into ruins and it is what I call the Golden rule, both parties must never fall in love!"
"That would be easy!"
"Rule number two!" Joey continued again. "There is a ten o'clock in the evening curfew, whatever you have to do outside should be done within this time frame."
"What if I arrive too late or maybe I was in the house but when it got to that time I had something to attend to outside, what happens then if I go?"
"You can't leave here once it's already curfew time, and if you want to know what is going to happen you just have to wait until then. Rule number three! Everyone must work collectively in the achievement of our supposed goal and this entails not hiding any information."
“You better make sure you keep to it because I don't have anything to hide so l am sure if this rule is going to have defaulted then you would be the defaulter," Mandy said.
"Don't be too sure ma'am," Joey told her.
"Rule number four! Both parties are free to have an outside relationship. Finally the last rule, rule number five!
After the goal is achieved everyone is to go on his own path."
"Hmm...okay."
"Are you okay with the rules? Would you love any adjustments?" Joey asked Mandy.
"Nah, I'm okay with it," Mandy replied.
"You are sure? There is nothing you would love to add, or even subtract?" Joey asked her again.
"Yup I'm good with it."
"Okay then, so that is it with the contract. Now there is something I would love you to tell me." Joey said leaning forward. "But before then, how was your trip to the hospital?"
"Oh, like you said it was quick, I got there really early and I made an acquaintance with a staff there, money bonded us together and she had me go in real quick."
"Yh, so what did the doctor say about your condition." He asked further.
"Well, nothing much. I can't even properly recall, but there is one thing I know for a fact though, he didn't say anything bad." Mandy said with a smile that seemed to say she was hiding something. The rules were just made, and it seemed like they were being broken already.
"Rule number three Mandy!" Joey said pointing at it with the end of his ball pen.
"Yh, I know. Rule number three."
“Okay then. So now, tell me everything about that lady called Tess."
This was a name Mandy never expected to hear, if this was to be a novel, Tess is just nothing but a side character, and it made no sense to her that Joey would be bringing her up.
"What about Tess?" Mandy asked back not answering Joey's question.
"You should be telling me, not asking," Joey said confused by Mandy's response.
"Okay, Tess is the lady whom Mrs. Mallory wanted Jake to get married to. She snuck her into the house on the night of Tiffany's birthday party with a sleeping drug in her possession. Tess's only job was to drug everyone present at the party, while getting Jake just a little bit unconscious, so he could at least be conscious to go to bed with
her. But the plan failed because Tess was someone who gets easily dehydrated and at the party, there was no water the only thing available was alcohol, so unable to bear it Tess had a glass of her drugged wine. So her plan failed and I ended up in bed with Jake that night. Tess came around the house some time, demanding Mrs. Mallory to get her together with her son as they had initially planned out threatening to tell everyone in the house about what had happened that night if Mrs. Mallory failed to meet her demands. At that point, it was something impossible for Mrs. Mallory to achieve, but she still tried shutting Tess up with the money, but adamant Tess came to the house and was about telling us when Mrs.
Mallory came in running after her and told us the whole thing that happened that night herself. Ever since that day the name Tess had never been mentioned in the house anymore." Mandy said concluding her explanation.
Joey rubbed over his chin, he was perplexed about the whole situation.
Nothing was making any sense to him.
He wondered why Mrs. Mallory would play out such a drama.
"I think there is a king who had being disguising as just an ordinary knight for a long time." Joey said still rubbing his chin, while Mandy looked at him with confusion.
"Nothing they say is hidden under the sun, and right now I am the sun, and nothing can be hidden away from my sight."
"Can you please use a language I would understand," Mandy said.
"Mrs. Mallory, she is the disguised king.
I think she is after the crown-like everyone else. Although we all have different reasons why we want the crown, the constant here is that we all want the crown."
"You are still not making any sense to me." Mandy cried out.
"Seems like Mrs. Mallory has a daughter..." Joey paused to take a look at Mandy's face and it was wearing the facial expression he expected."...and her daughter's name coincidentally happened to be Tess." He concluded.
Mandy's hand slipped away from the cushion's holder. "What did you just say?"
"The big question now is, is it the same Tess? If it is, what exactly was their plan when they did that display at the residence?" Joey said as he leaned back into his chair.
"If your big question's answer turns out to be positive..." Mandy said."... then..." She continued." ... I think the next big question would be, why would she want both her children to get married? Because it makes no sense wanting to marry her daughter to her son."
Joey smiled, the puzzle was becoming clearer bit by bit. "Except one of the two isn't actually her child. The next big question is, who?"
