LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX (EPISODE 43)

                          EPISODE 43

Seemed like everyone was observing a moment of silence at the Brandon's, as could be guessed from the perfect serenity in the atmosphere. Everywhere was calm, awkward though, but still calm. The calmness was observed with different reasons and purposes in mind. While Mandy excercised hers because she was developing, arranging, deciding the questions she would love to ask, Joey and Kai were formulating the replies they would give to the questions they knew were obviously being borne in Mandy's head.

"So..." Mandy started breaking off the peace and quiet. "What is going on?" She asked.

Funny how we make plans and then end up not flowing with it. This wasn't on the questionnaire Mandy had prepared, at the very least this wasn't how she had wanted to ask it. The question was very vague, although it would be easier for Joey to maneuver his lies, it won't be easy to answer still.

Kai was even more excited, it won't be too hard for Joey to come out of this, so she thought.

"I also don't know." Joey replied.

The moment Joey gave such a reply, Kai's eyes bulged out like it was going to pop out at any slight touch. That wasn't the response she l

"It may seem like I am lying but that's the truth." Joey said again his gaze fixed on Mandy who had her eyes fixed on nothing in particular. She stared into space as vaguely as her question was.

"You're obviously not lying. Infact you are being more than honest." Kai cried inside her.

"Everything I've told you was the truth as it was. That we got to meet was actually more than just a coincidence, maybe fate." He took his eyes away from her and continued. "Yes I know we actually planned how our encounter was going to be, but you coming into the picture was never planned for, it was just something that happened. I don't know how to explain this but this is what it is."

"What about Kai?" Mandy asked.

"Kai is someone I met after I came out from prison." Joey replied.

Kai was shocked, not because she heard her name but more because Joey told Mandy about his prison story. "Just how much has the guy disclosed to her." Kai said within herself.

"We bonded from the very first day we met, I think it was because we clicked on the very first conversation. She heard my story and told me of hers which was quite similar. She couldn't do anything back then and still couldn't because the Jake in her life already

died and so couldn't get her revenge, offered to help me in my quest and that was how it happened. I placed her at the Mallory's as my eyes and ears long before you came in. This is why l'm telling you that you being on the plan map, wasn't the initial idea, it just happened." Joey beckoned.

Mandy was still in dismay. Confused, sad, and furious all at once.

"But that doesn't change the fact that you only added me because you wanted to use me." Mandy said finally staring at a definite position.

This was the hard part, she wasn't wrong about that. Joey only wanted to use her because she became his biggest revenge card.

"Yes, you are right."

Mandy knew that was the case but she never expected Joey to be so blunt about it. "Lie to me if the truth would break my heart. I know I asked you for the truth, but still, I would appreciate it if you tell me a white lie." Mandy said with a sad smile as the tear drops fell from her eyes. Once a writer called AJIE said: the only thing more painful than words unsaid are emotions unexpressed. Right now it was the former which broke Mandy down,

"words unsaid" which in her case was

"words said", she felt like a hammer pierced through her heart.

Mandy had always been someone who get more affected by pains inflicted with words, than the ones inflicted with physical contact.

"No, I am never going to do that again." Joey said. "What I want is revenge, revenge on the Mallory's and I know you want to pay them back in their own coin too. I need you to help me achieve my goals and while I use you, I would in turn help you get justice. I thought about it and it seemed like a pretty fair deal to me. I watched you with my auxiliary eyes for a while (he said pointing at Kai who was just seated and had not said anything), I wanted to

see you more for myself so I started watching you from afar too. I realized things are not always as they are from afar so l decided to come closer to observe you in your real environment. I wasn't going to approach you and force you to leave when you are not ready to, patience is something I have in abundance, I was more than willing to wait. I kept on bumping into your life out of nowhere, all thanks to information about your movements I get from Kai. Somehow we got close even though it wasn't a part of the plan too. And that is just all there is to it about how we are where we are right now."

"How did you get to know about me then?" Mandy asked again.

"Kai was just giving me her regular daily report, when stories about you kept popping up and then I thought - Why not."

After about thirty minutes, Mandy had had more than enough time to think things through. Then she arrived at a conclusion.

'"This relationship is nothing more than a give and take, it's a symbiotic association where we both have what we want from each other and so work together to achieve our goals. All I have to do is put emotions out of this and eliminate expectations. This is a game, and I would play it like it's one." Mandy said to herself.

"Okay, let's do this." Mandy said to Joey with a smile on her face as she extended her hand towards Joey for a handshake.

Kai smirked, she could already see how. interestingly things were going to play out.
