EPISODE 26
"So why were you following me?" Mandy asked Joe as they walked their way to the pharmacy at the end of the road.
"Erm...it erm... " Joe said stuttering. "It just happened that I was passing by at that moment and then I saw you walk out of the house angrily. I tried calling out to you but you didn't respond, I guess you didn't hear me," Joe said scratching his head.
"Oh okay!" Mandy answered believing what Joe has said, "I was just lost deep in thoughts, I wasn't paying attention to anything around me," Mandy said as she walked with her hands behind her back.
Joe was relieved, he was already getting replies to the more questions he was expecting Mandy to ask him.
Hearing her change the topic, relieved him of his worry.
"Really!" Joe screamed, making Mandy l startled. "You weren't paying attention to your environment. That's strange."
"First! Why did you scream that loud! You almost gave me a heart attack. Second, what is strange?"
"I'm sorry, it's just was really confused..."
"About?" Mandy asked dragging her word, interrupting Joe.
"Okay... you said you were lost deep in thoughts and you weren't paying attention to your environment and that was why you couldn't hear me call out to you, right?" Jake asked trying to confirm his facts before making his point.
"Yeah, that's correct," Mandy said confirming it.
"I could believe that, it is believable, sensible, and valid enough, but, Joe said trying to show he had an objection-how did you know I was following you?
"I don't know! guess it's more like a sixth sense I have. Even though I'm not focused on what's going on around me, I still notice things happening around me."
Joe nods his head. "Okay, if you say so."
"So Joe, why did you quit your job the other time," Mandy asked as kicked off a tiny stone on her path.
This question caught Joe off guard. He was expecting it, but still, it caught him off guard. They were just a few steps away from the pharmacy, so he quickly thought of any conversation he could bring up at that point in time, to shove Mandy's question aside.
"It's Joey. Mandy looked at Joe with a look that says she wasn't sure about what he was saying. Joe noticed it and then he made himself clearer. My name is Joey, not Joe." Joe said with a defeated look.
He had to give out something to protect another. Revealing his true name wasn't part of his plan, it wasn't supposed to be out this soon, but it was something he had to do, to hide something bigger.
"Oh really! Then why did you tell everyone it was Joe." Mandy asked again.
"We are here!" Joe replied, once again avoiding Mandy's question.
"Anyone - haseyo," the pharmacist said as he welcomed Mandy and Joey in.
Mandy turned to Joey who wore the same confused look as she did. The store owner noticed it and he laughed out loud.
He took them outside and showed them the sign written at the top of the building. It read *Anyeong - haseyo Pharmacy*
It is Korean for "Hello Pharmacy."
"I guess we have a drama fan in our midst," Jake said looking at Mandy.
"I guess so," Mandy said with a smile.
It was weird though, seeing a grown man who is a drama fan. Accepting that fact, wasn't easy for either Mandy or Jake.
"We want a cream we can apply on his swollen face," Mandy said pointing at Joey's sullen head.
#######
"Do they know each other? Nah Nah Nah! Are they working together? Nah no way! How is he back? Did he come back for me? Is Mandy helping him out?" Jake asked himself as he paced around in his room.
He was tensed. Seeing Mandy together with Joey got him tensed up. He wasn't prepared for what he felt coming his way. He wasn't ready to face Joey again.
"I have to get on her good side. Now I have an even stronger reason why l need to make her fall for me. I need information about what is going on."
Jake was under heavy pressure. His heart was racing really fast, he was sweating and it was hard making him feel dehydrated.
"I need water!" He said as he rushed out of his room.
##############
"It stings right?" The beautiful pharmacist in her mid-twenties asked Joey as she applied the ointment over the swollen area.
"Yh, but just a bit," Joey said shyly.
Mandy stood and watched the two flirt around with each other and then she gave out a soft smile, and walked to the elderly man, excusing the two to have a swell time.
"Weird name right?" The elderly pharmacist asked Mandy who was staring at the outside world from the see-through glass door of the
pharmacy while she leaned on the counter.
