LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX(Episode 16)

                               EPISODE 16

Jake paused for a while with pockets of sweat, dripping from his face. He paced around thinking of what to do.

He wanted to go have a first talk with the staff, but he was scared wondering if it was the same person, because the names sounded almost the same.

"What's wrong babe?" Tiffany asked concerned about the whole reaction to Jake.

"It's nothing babe, I'm fine."

Jake rushed out of the building and went straight to the penthouse. Both buildings were built in such a way that they are totally different, but yet still totally connected. The engineers did a great job.

"What is it? Mrs. Mallory asked surprised by the way Jake walked inside. Is anything wrong Jake? She asked again, this time out of worry. I'm talking to you young man!" Now, she is angry. She held Jake by his hand to get him to calm down a bit.

Tiffany came in running after Jake.

"What is going on here?" She asked Tiffany with a stern gaze.

"I don't know! Tiffany said gasping for air. I really ...don't know ma'am. I just told him about your new staff Joe and then he started acting all strange." She. said a little less dehydrated.

"Where is he mom? Call him out, right now!"

No one could understand why Jake was in so much rage, but behind all this rage was trembling fear, and only a person with keen eyesight could see it.

"He just left. He left about an hour ago," Mrs. Mallory said going back to her seat.

"What! Left to where? I don't understand," Jake asked less afraid.

"He resigned. I don't know what got into him; he just came and said he couldn't work here and that he wanted to resign. So, he left."

Jake was glad he didn't get to meet Joe, but although Joe may be gone, the memories from his past already came back and didn't seem like they would be leaving anytime soon.

"Okay, mom. I will be heading back now."

"Just like that! Mrs. Mallory said looking sad.

"You never visit me here at the penthouse; it's almost as if I'm an outcast. Why don't you stay for some coffee?" She was wearing a pitiful look, trying to get Jake to give in.

"I am sorry Mom, maybe next time. I still have some issues to deal with at home."

Jake walked out, ignoring Tiffany's presence.

"Where is she?" Jake asked as he walked back into the house.

Mandy had gone back upstairs to nurse her wound after cleaning up the mess. She could hear Jake's scream for the room. She couldn't care less because at the end of the day no matter what she did he was still going to beat her up.

"Mandy! Mandy!! Mandy!!!" Jake screamed out.

"What do you want?" Mandy asked as she walked down the stairs.

"So you go around sleeping with all the staff in the house right. You were so excited because a new toy arrived, you got tired of the old ones and you wanted a new toy right. You couldn't even wait for a day. You have no shame Mandy, no shame at all." Jake said in rage.

"If this is what you called me to talk to me about, then I don't have anything to say to you, Jake. You can think whatever you want of me. I have nothing to prove to you."

Mandy couldn't care less about what Jake thought of her. That was the last thing she would ever worry about.

"How dare you?!" Jake said dragging Mandy back forcefully.

Let go of me, Jake. I don't have the energy for this." Mandy said pulling herself away.

Jake placed both his hands on his waist and then he scoffed as he laughed out sarcastically. He pulled Mandy back so hard that she fell to the floor.

Mandy's bandaged hand was out, she's been trying so hard to hide it, but now Jake saw it.

His hand was still hanging mid-way in the air when he saw the band-aid Mandy's hand.

It was a really deep cut. He opened his mouth like he wanted to stay something, but then not bringing out any word from it, he closed it.

"Get out of my face," Jake said as he stood up from Mandy's body.

Mandy stood up too, and then she went back.

“What was that all about?" Tiffany asked Jake in a fury.

"I just want to rest Tiff; I don't really have the strength to argue with you right now. Can you just not ask me anything, please?" Jake picked up his office bag and then he left Tiffany all

alone to ponder on what just happened.

Mandy sat on her dressing stool and then she stared at her reflection in the mirror. "How pitiful!" She said with sadness in her eyes. She took off the band-aid and then she dressed her cut with a new one. It was bleeding again.

She had used her hand as a leaner when Jake pushed her to the floor. Now she didn't just have a cut on her hand she had sprained it too.

Mandy's eyes moved around her room, and the room reeked of sadness. There was no trace of happiness. Mandy's eyes landed on a quote she had plastered on her oil-painted wall. She scoffed as she read what was written on it.

"I was a fool for ever believing in such words. Not every tunnel had a light at its end, not every star was made to shine, not everyone would be happy in the end." She said gazing at her reflection.

She aced her first aid kit back where she brought it from and then she slumped into her bed. "Now you're even too pitiful to look at Mandy!" She cried out, burying her face in her pillow.

#############

"What is going on Jay? Tiffany asked still bringing the questions to the room.

"What do you mean what is going on?" Jake wasn't sounding too nice; he wasn't in a good mood.

"Don't play the word game with me. I don't know what it is, because I can't really put a finger on it, but I know something is definitely going on."

Tiffany said still maintaining her stance.

The last thing Jake ever wanted to do was to raise his voice at Tiffany, whenever she was pushing him towards that end, he always avoided it by doing something or bringing up something else.

"How was your day?" Jake said changing the conversation. "I want to hear it, all of it, so tell me," he said pulling Tiffany to the bed.

Tiffany was all smileys; she was always happy seeing Jake make efforts to make her feel good.

"Well, my day went well. Everything was going just fine not until I saw Mandy when I came downstairs," Tiffany said still sitting on his lap.

"Can we not....can we not just bring up Mandy in our conversation. Whenever we talk it's almost as if we have nothing else to talk about except her. Mandy is irrelevant and

unimportant, talking about her continuously just makes her important. So please... please let's just have a conversation without Mandy's name popping up." Jake said looking at Tiffany, he wasn't smiling but he was frowning either. His facial expression was just in-between.

"Okay, if you insist. I won't bring her up. So today all I did was..."

Someone knocked at the door, interrupting Tiffany's speech.

"Yes! Who is it?" Tiffany asked. Jake was too tired to raise his voice.

"It's me!" Mandy responded.

"Mandy! What do you want?" Tiffany asked again this time with anger in her voice.

Jake was just tired. Just when he was about to have a good time without having to be reminded of Mandy's existence, she came to do the reminder herself.

"I saw this invitation cards on the couch downstairs where Jake had dropped his office bag, and since it had the company's name written on it I was more certain it belonged to him, so l came to return it," Mandy said to Tiffany who already opened the door.

"Okay, thank you. You can go now. And if you want anything, send any of the staff."

"But you said I should do everything on my own."

"Yes I said that and I know, and it's not like I'm changing it totally, just for today, you can let the staff do some things for you."

"Dress up nicely tomorrow we are going for the company's dinner." Jake had managed to say to Mandy before she left.

"Okay, what time?"

"7 pm"

"What did you just say to Mandy? When did she start attending parties with you?" Tiffany was furious.

Jake said nothing; he looked at Tiffany and watched her rant all she wanted.

When she was done with expressing her anger, she looked at Jake expecting him to say something, but all Jake did was smile, it wasn't his usual smile.

Whenever Jake wore a smile like that, it only meant he had something up his sleeves.
