LEGALLY MARRIED TO MY EX (Episode 8)

                              EPISODE 8

The whole house felt empty, it was always like this, lonely and extremely boring.

Mandy picked up baking as a habit, just as a way to pass time and for the day to easily go by.

"Kali, pass me the mixer," Mandy said to Kali who was helping her out in the kitchen while she made some cookies.

"Which of them?" Kali asked trying to confirm which amongst the three mixers Mandy was referring to.

"Yes, that one over there. Bring the milk too while you are at it."

"Okay, Mrs. Boss."

"What did you just say, Lucas?" Jake asked in an angry tone.

"I am really sorry sir. It's really not in my nature to be that way." Lucas said apologizing.

"Oh, it's not in your nature to be that way, right?" Jake said, mimicking Luca's voice. "Then who was it? It was me, right?" He asked now in a rage.

"No! No! No sir, that was not what I meant."

"No, it has to be me! Because I mean, if it isn't you, then it has to be me, isn't it?"

"Sir, I promise it won't happen again, no matter how much I need to use it; I would hold it in next time."

"Oh, no, it won't happen again because there sure won't be a next time. How could you be so unprofessional? Just a simple job you were asked to do, all you had to do was a very simple job for crying out loud! Be on their trail

and when you get the chance, run them over, but you had to use the... I can't even say, because it's so lame that it only makes me angrier if I say it."

"I am really sorry sir; please give me one last chance. I was with them till they got to the cafe, but they spent so much time in the car, and I couldn't hold it in anymore, so I ran inside the cafe to use the toilet very quickly hoping they would still be talking, but it was longer than I expected, it just kept coming out and wouldn't stop, when l came out, they already left."

"I don't even know why l listened to Tiffany when she brought you to me, you're just a dumbass!" Jake didn't even want to listen to what further excuses Lucas had to give, hẹ hung up the phone and kept hitting on the starring, and cursing at any vehicle that passed, and cursed at him for acting like a lunatic.

"Yh! You're stupid too!" He yelled at a van.

"You obviously do not have a father at home, you disrespectful brat!" The old man who drove the fan had yelled back at Jake.

"If it isn't the female Jesus, who else could it be?" Mrs. Mallory said, starring at Mandy in a scornful way. "Why didn't you just die? If it was such a hard thing for you to do why didn't you just stay back at whatever place you were? No one wants you here, cant you see that!

Do you enjoy this? The insult, constant rejection and ridicule? Do you enjoy it? Why are you enduring all of this, is it because of Money? Oh stop dreaming honey; I would make sure you leave this house without a penny!" Mrs. Mallory taunted Mandy.

Mandy wondered if this was the same woman who was weeping and sobbing at her disappearance last night. "Oh, well, who knows? She might have schemed the whole thing along with Jake and Tiffany, and the whole weeping was just an act of cover-up," Mandy said to herself underneath her breath.

"I don't need your money," Mandy said with firmness in her voice.

"So you talk back at me now? I see, the bird finally grew some wings, well l won't waste a single time cutting them off!" She said as she dragged Mandy closer to her and slapped her twice on her left cheek.

"Kali!" She screamed.

Kali ran into the kitchen which she left to give them privacy. "Get me the whip."

Mandy already knew what was to come next when Kali returned with the whip.

She stood straight, raised her flowing gown, and joined her legs together.

Mrs. Mallory whipped her several times until it felt like her legs were going to bleed.

"Next time you would know how to use your words carefully."

Mandy remained in that position, saying nothing but just shedding tears.

"How could life be so cruel to one person? How could one person face so much misery? What in the world have l ever done to deserve this? I didn't walk myself into Jake's room that night, and it's not like all of this is completely my fault." Mandy said in a sobbing manner.

Mrs. Mallory’s phone rang and she picked it up. It was Jake calling.

"Oh! Hello son!" Mrs. Mallory said to Jake who had called her. "Why are you calling me this early? I hope all is well." She pushed Mandy away as she walked her way to the couch.

"What! What do you mean?" She yelled. Noticing the stare she was getting from Mandy, she stood up and excused herself out of the house for more privacy. "What did you just say? How could Lucas be so stupid?" She bites off her pinky finger and paced around the lawn. "Where did you even get him

from?"

"Well, Tiffany introduced him to me."

“Oh, Jake . Winy do you still associate yourself with that brat! Can't you see? She gave you someone who is just as dumb as she is."

"Mom Tiffany isn't dumb! And besides, its not her fault Lucas is stupid. That reminds me, mom, how could you make me look like the bad person all by myself last night? You just walked away like a saint and left me there as the sinner.”

"What did you expect me to do? Bringing Tiffany home wasn't part of the plan, I was just as shocked as everyone else. How did you even manage to hide her? Didn't she come with you?”

"Well, I told her to wait until you returned to the penthouse, but she couldn't wait any longer and she just had to come out."

There was a bang on the gate. Mrs. Mallory watched Stephen run to get the gate opened.

"Speak of the witch," Mrs. Mallory voiced out as Tiffany walked into the compound.

"Who was that mum?" Jake asked.

"Your mistress of course, she just arrived."

"Tiffany is there! What is she there for? Oh no, she had better not do anything stupid."

Tension could be heard in Jake's voice.

"Good morning Mrs. Mallory," Tiffany greeted with contempt in her voice.

"What exactly is good about the morning?" Mrs. Mallory said walking closer to Tiffany.

"Tell me, you little brat, what have you come here for?

Jake isn't home and I'm pretty sure you know that, else, you are just as dumb as your stupid Lucas!"

"I don't want to insult you old lady," Tiffany said trying to hold back her anger.

"Old lady?" Mrs. Mallory screamed in a rage.

"How dare you call me an old lady, you whore!" Mrs. Mallory said slapping her hard across the face.

Mandy heard the yells from inside, and it sounded like Mrs. Mallory and Tiffany's voices. Knowing what Mrs. Mallory and Tiffany are like whenever they were together, she had the urge to go stop them but she held herself back from going out to settle whatever issue they had going on, she couldn't care less about them, not after the trauma they've put her through.

The arguments went on for minutes, and Mandy couldn't help but run outside to stop

them.

She asked every staff staring at them to return to their duty posts.

They were arguing by the pool, anything crazy could happen any minute.

Mandy ran out to stop them. Mrs. Mallory yelled at her for interfering and asked her to mind her business.

Already tired of the whole drama, Mrs.

Mallory decided to return to the penthouse.

Mandy finally at peace that the war was over, turned to return to the house when Tiffany who wanted to start another war with Mandy, stretched out her hand to get a hold of Mandy's hair so she could push her into the pool, knowing very well that Mandy couldn't swim, but as the heavens would have it, her stiletto heels bent a little and then she tripped, hitting her head forcefully on the pool tiles, causing blood to spill and then she fell into the pool.

The loud splash forced Mrs. Mallory and Mandy to turn almost at the same time. When Mandy saw the bloodstains she was gripped with fear. Everyone was tensed and confused about what to do.

"Jump in and save her!" Mrs. Mallory yelled at Mandy.

"But I....l can't...I can't swim."

Mandy was tensed, she didn't know what to do, she just stood there watching her once best friend lose liters of blood by the minute.

"Help! Help!" Mrs. Mallory screamed in the loudest she could scream.

Chris, the gardener, was the first staff to arrive and he dived into the pool the moment he saw Tiffany.

He tried giving her CPR and every other first-aid treatment he could lay his hands on, but Tiffany wasn't responding.

Mrs. Mallory was happy; it was just like killing two birds with one stone. Tiffany is dead and she is going to pin it on Mandy.

"She did it!" Mrs. Mallory screamed. "I saw her push her into the pool, when she knew very well that the poor girl couldn't swim. She did it!"

Mandy was confused; she wasn't sure what was going on. "One moment they wanted me dead, the next moment, I am labeled a murderer," Mandy said to herself with a sad smile on her face.
