EPISODE 22
Mandy's memory quickly flashed back.
FLASH BACK
It was the sixth day in third grade and Mandy was the new girl in the class.
She was petite, which was a very attractive body size, she had crescent-shaped eyes and her eyes were very shiny. Her brows were naturally shaped to form a perfect arc.
Her lips were just the perfect size, not too big, not too small. Everything had a size that complimented and suit the other perfectly.
"Hey, come sit here," Tiffany had said excitedly to Mandy her new sister.
Mandy had just started living with them.
"I'm coming," Mandy had said nodding her head with excitement in her eyes.
"It's my," Mandy said to Jake who had picked up her fallen pencil.
"Yh, I know it is yours. I was only helping you, I didn't plan on keeping it, I was going to give it to you." Jake said explaining himself, to clear out the impression of him being a thief Mandy was already creating in her head.
"Okay, Thank you."
"You are welcome," Jake said as he turned to leave. Taking few steps forward, Jake stopped and then he turned. "It's mine, not my." He said
correcting Mandy who was still standing there and then he turned to leave.
Mandy just looked at him with confusion in her eyes, she couldn't understand what he was saying.
Mandy had an issue differentiating 'my' from 'mine', she always mixed it up. It had always been an issue she had since she started making sentences.
That was when Jake gave her the name ' my - Mandy ' as her nickname.
"What was that about?" Tiffany asked
Mandy the second Jake was out of sight.
"It was not something serious. Are you done talking with the teacher?" Mandy asked her best friend with her hands over her shoulder.
"Erm...yes...yes...I'm done." Tiffany said, with a pinch of anger in her eyes. If you don't pay close attention you won't notice it."
"C'mon let's go grab lunch, l've been waiting for you," Mandy said pulling her best friend out from the class.
END OF FLASHBACK
Mandy stared at Jake in disbelief, she couldn't phantom the fact that the same little boy who helped her pick up her pencil, is the same monster sitting next to her right now.
"They say the only thing constant in life is change, and that is so true. I mean if you can change from that to this, then there is nothing and no one that is incapable of changing." Mandy said as she stood up disappointedly.
Jake pulled her back to himself and she fell on his outstretched legs.
"Where are you going to?" He asked her with a tempting gaze.
"It is none of your business," Mandy said as she picked herself up, fleeing from Jake's touch like a prey was fleeing from a predator.
"Why are you acting like I'm some kind of plague?" Jake said as he held on to Mandy.
"You keep running away from me like l'm some infectious disease."
Mandy pulled out her hand and then turned around to leave but Jake grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to him. She struggled with his grip, trying to free herself from it, but Jake wasn't ready to let go instead.
Somewhere deep down within Mandy, she didn't want Jake to let go.
"Let me go!" She kept screaming, even though she knew she didn't mean it.
Jake wasn't ready to give up yet. The more she asked him to let her to go and struggled to free herself from his grip, the more tightly Jake held on to her.
While they both kept struggling, Mandy missed a step and they both fell on the bed. Mandy's hand rested on Jake's chest, and then they both locked their gaze. Jake wrapped his hands fully across Mandy's waist. He pushed his head up and then he planted a kiss on her lips, Mandy didn't struggle to push him away; she left her hands still resting on his chest. Jake withdrew his face and then figured Mandy was just staring at him. He turned over to his left, in such a way that they both lay on the bed on their sides. He pulled out
his left hand and then he held on to Mandy's face with it. He placed another kiss on Mandy's lips, and after a short while he withdrew his face, he noticed Mandy already closed her eyes, he gave out a smile knowing he had Mandy where he wanted, and then he went all in.
########
"It's been a while, Mrs. Mallory." The lady behind the door said as she entered.
"What are you doing here?" Mrs. Mallory asked as she moved backward on the floor with her butt, supported by her palms.
The lady kept moving closer, and closer, with her hands behind her back.
She brought it out upfront slowly and scared Mrs. Mallory quickly covered her face and screamed to not be killed.
Tess wiped away, tiny pockets of sweat on her face with the handkerchief she had brought out, wondering why Mrs. Mallory was screaming.
She walked towards the couch and took a seat, crossing her legs.
Feeling embarrassed, Mrs. Mallory stood up with humiliation running through her veins.
"What are you doing here Tess?" Mrs.
Mallory asked in a whisper. "What do you want? I thought I asked you never to show up here again!"
Tess blew off imaginary dust from her fingers, still with her legs crossed.
"I am not the same pushover I was months ago. This time I am not going back without taking what's due to me."
Mrs. Mallory leaned in closer to understand Tess's statement properly.
"I don't understand you." She said asking for clarification.
"You heard me; I am not leaving here without taking what's mine."
"How much do you want?" Mrs. Mallory asked understanding Tess's statement to mean money.
I don't understand... (Tess said uncrossing her legs)... what are you talking about."
"I should be asking you that. What is it in what I asked you that is so difficult for you to understand? How much do you want? Isn't money what you are asking for?" Mrs. Mallory said with anger now in her voice.
"What!" Tess exclaimed laughing out loud hysterically. "Oh no no no! Hell no! I am not talking about money."
Now there was confusion. It was obvious they were not thinking of the same thing, they were on totally different pages.
"If it isn't money, then what else do you want?" Mrs. Mallory asked. She guessed what it was in her head but she didn't want to admit it to herself, she still wanted to believe that she was
wrong.
Jake!" Tess screamed. "Obviously what I want is Jake. That was our agreement and I am not going to settle for less, not anymore."
Mrs. Mallory was dumbfounded, confused, and tensed. This wasn't something she had expected; there was no backup plan for this scenario.
"You must be joking... right? There is no way you would be serious about this. You don't like Jake; let's not even talk about love, so why do you want him now?"
"Let's just say I finally found love."
Having Tess get married to Jake is not a problem, after all, Mrs. Mallory had wanted Tess to get married to Jake in the first place, but right now, at this moment, with everything that has happened and everything that's happening, bringing Tess into the picture would only complicate issues, and there is no way the truth about Tess won't be uncovered.
That truth was something Mrs. Mallory wasn't ready to own up to yet.
"I don't know what your plan is with all of this; I can still clearly remember how I begged you to marry my son and how you reluctantly agreed. I am even this close to being one hundred percent sure that you messed up the entire plan that night, intentionally, so you could get my money and still enjoy being a spinster. So if you know what is best for you just get out!" Mrs. Mallory was trying to come out strong and confident.
"Look... (Tess said looking less concerned)... I am not here to talk about who is wrong or right and the last thing I'm here to do is argue with you. All I'm saying is, it's either you get Jake into marrying me, or I would tell everyone what you asked me to do."
Mrs. Mallory's breathing increased; right now it's clear that her blood pressure had increased.
###############
"I love you, Mandy," Jake said slowly into Mandy's ears with his breath falling softly on her.
"That's a lie! (Mandy said with certainty.) I know you don't love me. There is something you are trying to get from all of this and trust me you won't." Mandy pushed Jake away and
stood up from the bed.
Jake had to think of something to do immediately. He couldn't afford to miss this opportunity he had.
He stood up immediately and banged the door preventing Mandy from leaving. He grabbed her by the waist close to him, and then he placed his hand across her neck holding her face.
He leaned in close making their foreheads touch. Jake stared directly into Mandy's eyes, Mandy refused to look back. Looking into Jake's eyes now would be the end of her.
"Can't you feel it?" jake said as he placed Mandy's right hand on his chest.
The thumping of Jake's heart made Mandy shocked, your heart could only beat that fast when you're nervous, and you are nervous around people you love.
"Could he really feel something for me?" Mandy asked herself.
She had no choice, she was forced to look into Jake's eyes, and that was it, she was mesmerized. She stared back so hard she couldn't look at any other place aside from Jake's eyes.
She watched as Jake's eyes moved away from her eyes to her lips. She knew what was to come, but she was too emotionally weak to resist.
