Chapter 667: I Love You the Most Too, Only You
“It seems you really do want to leave me.”
Adeline felt utterly exasperated. She could only raise a hand to cover his mouth and say, “Fine, I’ll say it! I love you the most, only you. Is that good enough?”
A smile touched the corners of Harrison’s eyes.
He said, “Mm, I love you the most too, only you.”
With that, he kissed her lips.
…
The Livingston Estate. In a flurry, everyone carried Pedro to his room.
“Has the doctor been called?” Mrs. Livingston demanded angrily.
“He’s been called. The doctor said he’ll come right away,” a servant replied, trembling.
Mr. Livingston, however, felt something was amiss. He had distinctly seen Pedro’s eyelashes flutter twice earlier.
Just then, Pedro suddenly took two heavy breaths and opened his eyes.
“Son, you’re finally awake! You scared me half to death!” Mrs. Livingston breathed a slight sigh of relief, feeling a sense of relief akin to a survivor’s.
Her son had finally returned home. If something else happened to him now, how could she possibly go on living?
“Mom, I’m fine. There’s no need for the doctor,” Pedro said weakly. “I just… got scared earlier.”
“Scared?” Mrs. Livingston was puzzled. “Scared of what?”
“Of the Mendoza family’s young lady, of course,” Pedro replied with a bitter smile.
“You mean Adeline?”
Mrs. Livingston was even more confused.
Although she had also felt a bit apprehensive upon hearing Adeline was here.
But Adeline’s demeanor earlier had seemed quite friendly, hadn’t it?
Her conversation with Pedro seemed like nothing more than casual chat.
How could Pedro have been so frightened that he fainted?
“Mom, you know I… did wrong before,” Pedro said. “I wronged her, and the Mendoza family was very angry at the time.”
“Oh, that’s all in the past. Why bring it up?” Mrs. Livingston said, her heart aching for him. “Even if what you did before was wrong, isn’t she perfectly fine now? Don’t blame yourself anymore. You were deceived by that Benjamin fellow too.”
Hearing the name “Benjamin,” Pedro felt another jolt of fear in his heart.
But he managed to steady himself and continued, “But the Mendozas were so angry they severed ties with our family. Now, Adeline suddenly comes here to see me… It makes me terribly nervous. Could it be she’s still holding a grudge over the past and wants revenge on me?”
“That can’t be, can it?” Mrs. Livingston frowned. “That matter is clearly over. And during this time, the Mendozas haven’t caused us any trouble.”
“Because what happened back then had nothing to do with you. It was all my doing,” Pedro said. “Now, the moment I return, she eagerly comes over. She must still resent me for what happened. Just thinking about it makes me panic uncontrollably. I’ve been away all these days, finally adjusting my mindset, wanting to start a new life. If the Mendoza young lady intends to do something to me, I’ll have no way to fight back.”
He looked at Mrs. Livingston, his eyes reddening. “When that time comes, I might not even know how I die.”
“She wouldn’t dare!” Mrs. Livingston gritted her teeth angrily. “She returned safe and sound, and you, you suffered so much. What more does she want? If she dares to hurt you, I will absolutely not let her get away with it!”
With that, Mrs. Livingston hugged Pedro again.
“…our family? If not for the Mendozas helping us many times before, we might have gone bankrupt long ago!”
Her words greatly displeased Mr. Livingston.
“The Mendoza family’s prosperity isn’t solely Isaac Mendoza’s achievement. Gracie Mendoza has also accomplished a great deal in the company. But you? Every day it’s either going out shopping or having afternoon tea with a bunch of socialites. Have you ever helped me even a little bit?”
“You… you’re starting to look down on me now? Where was this attitude earlier!”
“Enough!” Pedro was thoroughly fed up with listening. “Aren’t we discussing the Mendoza family trying to harm me? How did you divert the topic elsewhere?”
The Livingstons were taken aback, then both coughed awkwardly several times.
“That’s Mom and Dad’s fault. But Pedro, rest assured. Even if we have to risk our lives, we will fight the Mendoza family to the end!”
Mrs. Livingston spoke with conviction. The nearby servants, however, were completely baffled.
Had they missed something? When did the Mendoza family say they would harm Pedro?
When Adeline visited earlier, her behavior had seemed normal. Didn’t she say she just came to see Pedro? How did it transform into her wanting to harm him?
Moreover, she suffered so terribly because of Pedro before, kidnapped to a foreign land. Even though she’s back safely now, does that erase the suffering she endured?
Why are they making it sound as if Pedro is so innocent?
The servants were utterly bewildered internally, but naturally, they dared not say anything in front of their employers. They simply felt that if the Livingstons continued to indulge Pedro so blindly, they would eventually face the consequences of their own actions.

Chapter 668: Inviting Miss Hensley on a Date
Harrison had some matters to attend to at a branch office.
Since he had previously promised Adeline to take her with him whenever he went to the company again, this time they went together.
It was the first time the branch office employees had seen Adeline.
A curious person posted in the gossip chat group, “Mr. Thomson came with a beauty today, did you see? Who is she? Is she Mr. Thomson’s mistress?”
Someone immediately replied, “Don’t talk nonsense! That’s Miss Hensley!”
“Really? The Miss Hensley who has always been by Mr. Thomson’s side? How do you know?”
“I saw her photo online before. Someone this beautiful, I definitely wouldn’t forget.”
“So this is Miss Hensley. She really is stunning! When did she come to Yewhaina?”
“The atmosphere between Mr. Thomson and Miss Hensley seems off. Are they really just boss and subordinate?”
Among so many employees, not everyone knew that Adeline was the Mendoza family heiress and Harrison’s girlfriend.
“Not sure, but someone that beautiful and close to Mr. Thomson isn’t someone we can dream about. Better get back to work. Mr. Thomson is here today; if you cause any trouble, you’ll be in for it.”
“Tsk, but I want to invite Miss Hensley on a date. What do you think?”
“Kkkk, stop daydreaming!”
Just then, a man named Harlow suddenly said in the gossip group, “How about we make a bet?”
“What kind of bet?”
“Any man with guts, go find Miss Hensley, invite her on a date, and see who she eventually agrees with. Each of us puts up some money, and the winner takes it all. How about that?”
“Hiss… That’s quite the bold bet. A bit risky.”
“What’s risky about it? It’s just inviting Miss Hensley on a date. If she’s not willing, she’ll just refuse. Would she hit you over something like this? Besides, a woman as beautiful as her has probably encountered this many times. She’s likely used to it.”
“Hmm, you have a point.”
“So, who’s in?”
“I’m in! Win and get a date with a beauty, plus a big sum of money. Lose and there’s no real loss. Why not?”
“Exactly! Being rejected by such a stunning woman isn’t embarrassing. I’m in too!”
Soon, several men said they wanted to join the bet.
But more refused to participate, thinking those guys were foolish.
Miss Hensley was Mr. Thomson’s close associate. Weren’t they afraid of negative consequences by going to invite her on a date like this?
On the surface, it might not seem like a big deal, but why take the risk?
Getting a job at Thomson Group’s branch office wasn’t easy. These guys really had too much time on their hands.
As soon as Adeline entered Harrison’s office, she sighed helplessly.
“What’s wrong?” Harrison asked with a smile. “Don’t like it?”
“It’s not that I dislike it. It’s just that the decoration style of your office here is basically no different from the one back home.”
Harrison sensed a hint of distaste in her tone.
He didn’t dare say that actually, in Thomson Group branch offices worldwide, there was a dedicated office for him, and every one had the same decoration style.
“The decoration of our future new home will be up to you,” Harrison said. “You can design it however you like.”
“Really?” Adeline teased with a sly smile. “What if I make it all pink?”
“Sure,” Harrison replied calmly. “As long as you like it.”
He agreed rather readily.
But Adeline pictured Harrison in a room entirely decorated in pink.
Better not.
That image was a bit terrifying.
Harrison started working.
Adeline wasn’t entirely familiar with the situation at the Yewhaina branch yet, so for now she needed to get acquainted with the new project.
For her, it wasn’t difficult.
However, after reading a few documents, she started feeling a bit drowsy.
She really hadn’t slept well these past few days.
“I’m going to make some coffee,” Adeline said. “Do you want some?”
“An assistant can make it and bring it in,” Harrison said.
“Oh, it’s fine. I’ll do it myself.”
Compared to coffee made by others, Adeline preferred coffee she brewed herself.
In the break room, there were all sorts of coffee beans and grounds, but Adeline wasn’t familiar with this place and couldn’t immediately find the specific type she and Harrison preferred.
Just as her eyes were scanning the various coffee beans, she heard the sound of the door opening behind her.
She turned to see a man walking in.
Adeline didn’t recognize him, but since he could enter here, he must be an employee of the Thomson Group branch. So she didn’t pay much mind, giving a polite nod before continuing her search for the coffee beans.
Unexpectedly, the man approached her and struck up a conversation.
“You’re Miss Hensley, right?” the man said, staring intently at her. “You’re really beautiful.”
Many Yewhainians were known for their enthusiastic and direct manner of speaking, so Adeline didn’t think much of it and simply said politely, “Thank you.”
Having found the coffee beans, Adeline was about to start brewing when she saw the man place a packet of coffee beans in front of her, pushing the ones she had chosen aside.
Adeline frowned slightly, feeling both displeased and confused.
“Miss Hensley, this type of coffee bean is really good. Why not try this instead?”
As he spoke, the man blinked at her, thinking he was being charming.
Adeline felt a wave of revulsion.
Her expression cooled, and her tone became considerably more distant.
“No, thank you.”
She reached out and retrieved her chosen packet of beans.
The man pouted slightly, seemingly disappointed, but he still refused to leave and leaned closer to Adeline.
Adeline took two steps to the side, her tone now clearly one of aversion.
“Is there anything else?”
“Huh? No… I just wanted to ask, Miss Hensley, if you have time tonight? If possible, I’d like to invite you on a date.”
Adeline: “…”
Even if Yewhainians were enthusiastic and direct, you couldn’t just ask someone out like that right off the bat, could you?
“I have a boyfriend,” she stated directly.
“What?”
The man was stunned.
Miss Hensley had a boyfriend? He hadn’t heard about that!
“Ah, well… my apologies then…”
After saying that, the man turned and left in a somewhat discomfited manner.
Seeing he was being reasonable enough, Adeline didn’t pursue the matter further and continued making her coffee.
However, after leaving the break room, the man grew angrier the more he thought about it.
He was the first one to invite Adeline out, thinking he’d have an advantage, but instead, he ended up looking like a fool.
That group of people, nobody told him Miss Hensley had a boyfriend!
Thinking about it, they probably didn’t know either.
If he told them now, they’d surely give up on the bet. Then, wouldn’t he be the only one left looking foolish?
