Chapter 669: Do You Want to Go on a Date Tonight?
Absolutely not!
A malicious thought surged in the man’s mind.
He wouldn’t tell them Miss Hensley had a boyfriend.
He’d just say Miss Hensley rejected him.
Seeing him fail, those guys would double down and try even harder to invite Miss Hensley out.
Then, he wouldn’t be the only one embarrassed.
Thinking this, he reported his failure in their small group.
“Ugh, I just invited Miss Hensley on a date and failed! She’s still in the breakroom on the fifth floor. If anyone else wants to try, better hurry.”
As soon as he sent this message, people immediately started mocking him.
“You failed? Kkk…”
“I knew you wouldn’t succeed! It’s up to me now.”
“Give it a rest. In my opinion, you won’t succeed either. Look at yourself; how could Miss Hensley be interested in you?”
“What do you know? I might not be handsome, but I have other strengths!”
“Hmph, I don’t believe you.”
Meanwhile, the man named Harlow, watching the chat in the group, slowly curled his lips into a cold sneer.
A bunch of losers like them, thinking they could ask Miss Hensley out?
In the end, it all came down to him!
He was actually the one who most wanted to go on a date with Adeline.
He had always had a thing for Eastern beauties.
The moment he saw Adeline, he was deeply captivated.
He vowed in his heart that he had to make this woman his.
Then, he saw everyone discussing Adeline.
A bold idea suddenly struck him.
Why not initiate a bet, getting the men to invite Adeline out?
And they’d put money on it.
In the end, if he won, he could not only get a date with the beauty but also a hefty sum of money.
He wasn’t worried about losing.
With all these losers in the company, how could Miss Hensley possibly be interested in any of them?
As for himself, he was confident.
Among everyone in the company who could be considered good-looking, he ranked near the top.
He’d never been short of women chasing after him.
So, among them, he was the most likely to succeed.
Even if Miss Hensley rejected him, it was fine too. He wouldn’t be the only one embarrassed.
Harlow happily schemed in his mind.
He wasn’t in a hurry to find Adeline.
Let the others go first.
When it was finally his turn, a guy like him—she’d surely agree to go out with him.
In the breakroom, Adeline finished brewing two cups of coffee.
She carried them out, but not long after leaving the breakroom, another man walked straight up to her.
Without any small talk, he got straight to the point.
“Miss Hensley, would you like to go on a date with me?”
Adeline was speechless.
This one was even more direct than the previous man.
She was truly disgusted by the men at this branch office.
Adeline’s face turned cold.
“It’s still working hours. Do you think it’s appropriate to come and say something like that to me during work time?”
The man clearly didn’t expect Adeline to be so stern.
He was taken aback, then stammered,
“I… then I’ll come find you after work…”
The man looked unwilling to give up and blocked Adeline’s path.
“Miss Hensley, I really want to get to know you. Don’t go yet…”
With that, he even reached out as if to grab Adeline’s arm.
Adeline quickly dodged.
Just then, two female employees happened to pass by.
Seeing the situation, they hurried over and asked,
“What’s going on? Is something wrong?”
“This man is harassing me,” Adeline stated bluntly, giving him no face.
The two women looked at the man with disapproving eyes.
The man instantly felt embarrassed, shot a resentful glance at Adeline, and turned to leave.
Then, he vented in their small group:
“So what if she’s a bit pretty? Acting all high and mighty!”
“Hahaha, are you throwing a tantrum because she rejected you?”
“Don’t be like that. Can’t you take a loss? She just didn’t want to go out with you.”
The man typed furiously:
“If she didn’t want to go out with me, she could have just refused. Why bring up work hours and having a boyfriend? Hmph, in my opinion, she’s just making excuses! And she even slandered me to other colleagues, saying I harassed her! How did I harass her?”
“What, she actually said that?”
“This woman really doesn’t know what’s good for her.”
“Hmph, women, just a pretty face and they act all superior.”
Someone tagged the first man who had invited Adeline out and asked,
“Did Miss Hensley tell you she had a boyfriend?”
The first man quickly replied,
“No, she just said she didn’t have time.”
“See? The ‘having a boyfriend’ thing is just an excuse!”
“Seems like it’s just false modesty. Who knows how wild she is in bed.”
“Her figure must be great. Wonder what it feels like to touch…”
These men’s conversation grew increasingly inappropriate, filled with vulgar and offensive language.
“The rest of you, good luck! I never want to see that woman’s face again.”
“I’ll go next! I’m sure I can succeed!”
“If you succeed, can you take some photos for us tonight?”
“Hahaha, that depends on your performance.”
What these men didn’t know was that Adeline, carrying the coffee, returned to Harrison’s office fuming.
She set the coffee down and sat on the sofa, seething.
“What’s wrong?”
Harrison noticed something was off immediately.
He got up, walked over, sat beside her, put an arm around her shoulders, and asked.
“I was harassed!” Adeline complained without hesitation.
That man had even tried to grab her.
Why should she spare his dignity?
Hearing this, Harrison’s face instantly darkened, a dangerous glint flashing in his eyes.
“Who harassed you?”
“Check the surveillance footage outside the breakroom, and you’ll know.”
Adeline really didn’t want to bring up the incident again.
Just thinking about it made her sick.
Harrison immediately called someone to investigate.
The person handling the investigation was very thorough.
He not only checked the surveillance footage and identified the man who had harassed Adeline, but also uncovered the bet among those men.
Then, he reported everything to Harrison.
