Chapter 274: I Won’t Let You Off
"Right now, your subordinates are already under the police's radar here," Benjamin said. "If they keep digging, it's only a matter of time before they get to you."
Benjamin sneered. "You underestimate the police here. Besides, Harrison's people have also been investigating in secret."
Hearing this, Eleanor felt scared.
After all, it was she who ordered Lance to kill Amber.
If Lance was exposed, no good would come her way.
"Even though you're a foreigner here, you've committed a serious crime," Benjamin continued.
"If the Tillman family doesn't protect you, you'll definitely end up in prison. What's the plan? You'd rather go to jail here than go back home? Even if you have a chance to be released in the future, do you think the Tillman family would take in someone with a tarnished record?"
Hearing this, Lance truly felt unsettled.
His lips quivered, and he didn't know what to say.
"Just go home. I'll handle things here," Benjamin said.
Lance seemed to be considering it.
But then he suddenly remembered something and said, "I'll go home, but I want Eleanor to come with me."
Eleanor's heart skipped a beat.
If she went back with Lance, she would be tied to him for life. Then she couldn't get close to Harrison.
She forced a smile and said, "Lance, I still have work to finish here. I just secured a lead role with a director and am about to start filming...
"If you're with me, there's no need for you to stay in the entertainment industry," Lance said coldly.
"As long as you come back to Mugroaton with me, I guarantee you can..."
"Guarantee what?" Benjamin cut him off.
"What can you promise her? That you'll marry her? Do you think you have control over your marriage? You should go back alone. There's no need to take her with you."
Lance was furious.
But he didn't dare say anything more.
He just glared at Eleanor with resentment.
Eleanor pretended not to see it, lowering her head and moving closer to Benjamin.
"I've already arranged your flight ticket,"
Benjamin said. "The plane leaves in two hours. You don't need to pack. Just head to the airport now."
Knowing he had no way out, Lance could only leave with the bodyguards, looking defeated Just before he left, he stopped, turned, and ominously told Eleanor, "Eleanor, you're my woman. I won't let you off if you dare betray me.
With that, he finally walked away.
Eleanor's heart trembled.
She knew all too well that Lance was a lunatic.
Being with him, using him to do her bidding, was like playing with fire.
The perks she got from him might need to be repaid one day.
But she didn't want to think about that now.
Eleanor took a deep breath.
Now that Lance was gone and she had
Benjamin's support, her best move was to focus on winning over Harrison.
Even though the thought of Benjamin's affection for Adeline made her uncomfortable, Eleanor had no better option for now.
"Mr. Tillman, are you able to handle Amber's case?" Eleanor asked cautiously.
Benjamin replied, "Lance didn't do it himself. The two men he sent have family and friends in Mugroaton, all under my control. They'll know what to do."
Hearing this, Eleanor breathed a sigh of relief.
"So, what should we do now?" she asked eagerly.
Benjamin glanced around the messy
surroundings and frowned slightly, seeming a bit disdainful.
Eleanor said awkwardly, "This mess was all from Lance throwing a tantrum..."
"I'll have someone clean it up later," Benjamin said. "If there's anything I need from you, I'll let you know. For now, stay calm and don't do anything foolish. If I find out that you've ruined my plans with your recklessness, you know the consequences."
"Understood," Eleanor replied submissively.
After Benjamin left, Eleanor looked around her chaotic house, feeling deeply irritated. She took her frustration out on her assistant, Halle Slater.
Halle had no choice but to endure silently.
She wanted to quit but didn't dare offend Eleanor, nor did she want trouble with those foreigners.
The police contacted Harrison, saying that two foreigners had turned themselves in, confessing to Amber's murder.
These two were exactly the ones the police had been watching.
They claimed they stumbled upon Amber alone in a secluded place and decided to rob her.
But Amber had nothing valuable on her, and she saw their faces, so they killed her on impulse.
They even provided a recording of the murder.
One of them said they recorded it because they found it thrilling at the time.
The police verified that the video was authentic.
It clearly showed both men repeatedly stabbing Amber and using other brutal methods to kill her.
When asked if there was someone behind the crime, both denied it.
With their confession and solid evidence, the case was practically closed.
After receiving the news, Harrison said nothing.
Those two murderers weren't directly associated with the Tillman family.
So, there was no way to prove that Lance had ordered them.
And the fact was, they were the ones who killed Amber.
Since they were willing to take the blame, Harrison just let them carry it.
Harrison planned to deal with Benjamin and Lance in his own way.
Soon, the police announced the identities of the two killers online.
Meanwhile, the Thomson Group formally sued the prominent accounts that had spread rumors accusing Myra.
Online discussions quickly shifted.
"So it was two foreigners who did it! I knew it! The police hadn't released any information, but everyone acted like they'd seen the crime themselves!"
"Exactly! I remember you all blaming Myra before. How could you say such things without evidence?"
"Who started the rumor that Myra was the killer? It totally misled me!”
“Those who spread rumors are awful, but the people who blindly believe them without questioning are just as frightening, aren’t they?”
