One night stand with my president (chapter 218)

Chapter 218: I’m Wrong

Adeline squeezed his arm and looked at him inquiringly.

So Harrison deliberately raised his voice and said, "My wrist hurts a bit. Can you massage it for me later?"

At that volume, Russell on the other end of the phone would definitely hear him.

Adeline immediately saw through his scheme and was both amused and exasperated.

Since they had become closer, she realized that sometimes Harrison could be quite childish.

She initially thought Russell would hang up, but to her surprise, Russell raised his voice and said, "Mr. Thomson's wrist hurts? I know a great ointment. I can recommend it to you, so Ms.Hensley doesn't need to be bothered, right?"

Harrison frowned and got a bit annoyed.

He wanted to have a good chat with Russell.

He could have just snatched Adeline's

phone away, but he decided against it and said to Adeline, "Give me the phone. I want to talk to him."

"What are you going to say." Adeline lightly slapped his hand.

She genuinely feared that the two big shots would start arguing, so she didn't give the phone to Harrison and instead said to Russell, "Mr. Hunter, I have something to attend to, so Ill hang up for now."

After saying that, she quickly ended the call, fearing that Russell would insist on talking to Harrison.

"Why didn't you let me talk to him?" Harrison asked unhappily.

"What can you say to him?" Adeline replied helplessly. "If you start arguing, it'll get around, and you both will lose face."

"Never mind. I have to clarify things with him."

"What do you want to clarify?"

"I..."

Harrison had initially been aggressive, but when he saw the smile on Adeline's face, he

suddenly closed his mouth and felt a heat rise behind his ears.

"Alright." Adeline gently patted his head. "I

answered his call in front of you because I want you to know that there's nothing between me and him."

"But you have too many interactions with him," Harrison said sternly.

"Where are there too many?" Adeline widened her eyes in surprise.

She only met Russell at gatherings or conferences, or sometimes by coincidence.

Usually, they didn't contact each other at all.

Harrison remained silent.

In his mind, if Adeline was talking to Russell, it meant they had too many interactions.

Seeing that he wasn't speaking, Adeline tilted her head and asked, "Are you angry?"

"No," Harrison replied.

He could never bear to be mad at her.

He was just angry with Russell.

"Then when you were with someone else.."

Adeline started to speak but then stopped herself.

She thought, "Forget it, what's the point of bringing up old grievances now?"

She didn't say anything, but Harrison wasn't going to let it go.

"What do you mean?"

Since he had asked, Adeline straightforwardly said, "You told me to order flowers for Eleanor. Have you forgotten?"

Harrison felt a jolt in his heart.

He had forgotten.

At that time, he was just focused on collaborating with Eleanor. It was purely a task.

So after sending the flowers, he forgot about it.

Only now did he remember because of Adeline's words .

Looking back, he realized he had been a jerk.

Not only did he send flowers to Eleanor, but he even had Adeline do it.

Harrison wished he could travel back in time and slap himself for that.

At that time, Adeline must have felt terrible.

"Let me explain..."

"I don't want to hear it," Adeline said coolly.

In reality, she had already figured out what had happened back then.

Harrison was merely focused on the collaboration.

Moreover, he hadn't realized his feelings for her back then.

"No, you need to listen." Harrison grabbed her arm, turning her to face him. "Trust

me; I never liked Eleanor from the beginning to the end."

"Really? But at that time, you even had me buy ointment for her."

Harrison gasped.

Looking back, he had done a lot of foolish things back then.

"I was wrong," he admitted decisively. "I promise that this kind of thing will never happen again."

Those were all before he realized he liked Adeline.

At that time, he simply saw Adeline as his secretary, so he had her do those things.

But now, he still regretted it.

Adeline sighed.

Although she understood his situation and wasn't very angry, thinking about it still made her feel a bit uncomfortable.

However, she didn't need to stir up trouble over the past.

So she just said, "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure," Harrison said firmly.

"Then you need to remember what you said today."

Harrison smiled, revealing a hint of amusement.

"Yes, I promise to remember."

His smile suddenly made Adeline's heart race.

However, she wasn't distracted by his charm and continued, "Then you have to believe me. I have never liked Russell from the beginning to the end."

As soon as she said that, Harrison suddenly recalled something, his expression darkening.

"That time you went to buy the ointment, it was Russell who accompanied you."

Adeline was speechless.

She thought, "Uh-oh, did I just get myself into trouble?"

But she had never been one to back down, so she retorted, "If you hadn't let me buy ointment for Eleanor, Mr. Hunter wouldn't have had the chance to accompany me."

Harrison thought about it and realized that she was right.

Adeline chuckled and said, "Alright, let's not bring up old grievances anymore."

She gazed into his eyes and said, "I don't want to think about those unpleasant things from the past. I just want to cherish the present."

Harrison looked at her, his feelings surging wildly within him.

At that moment, he wanted to kiss her.

But thinking about the current situation, he held back.

He wanted to wait until they could confirm their relationship without reservations before kissing her.

That would be the right way to respect her.

Adeline sensed the heat in his gaze.

She could feel herself starting to lose control, fearing they might do something inappropriate in the office, so she quickly changed the subject.

"Does your wrist still hurt?"

"Huh?" Harrison didn't immediately respond.

"Your wrist. Didn't you say it hurt just now?"

Although Adeline could guess he was mostly pretending, she thought it was better to confirm just in case he was in pain.

"Oh, right. It does hurt." Harrison put on a painful expression. "Just massage it for me, and it'll be fine."

Seeing his exaggerated acting, Adeline finally confirmed he was faking it.

"Oh, come on, I still have some things to deal with. I'm leaving now."

"Alright."

After Adeline left the office, Harrison suppressed the fluttering in his heart and prepared to continue what he had been doing earlier.

Suddenly, a notification sound for a new message rang out..

He picked up his phone and saw that it was a message from Russell.
